Rod,

You hit the nail squarely on the head.  Content is King when it comes to the search engines.

Write as much as you can (within reason) and be sure to include the keyword phrases by which you want people to find you when they do searches on Yahoo!, MSN, and Google.  e.g., "Great MLM Opportunity" or "Home-Based Internet Business" - or whatever your website is geared towards.

In addition, Be Patient.  It takes a while for the search engines to fully index your site; however, if you keep your content fresh, the search engine spiders and robots will keep coming back once they do find you.

YES, YES, YES,

CONTENT counts for a great deal.
When the Google-Bots etc index your Web Page (that is if your HTML is ROBOT FRIENDLY) they check your CONTENT against your KEYWORDS in the Meta Tags.
The more prominent the KEYWORDS (frequency of use, <h1><b><u> ets are also considered) the BETTER.  (HIGHER Page Rank ?/10 (PR?/10))

As RodB said in the TOPIC STARTER POST

FWIW I have recently looked at about 30 sites from GDIers who are starting out and one consistent weakness sticks out. The sites all have lots of graphics and or sexy java scripts or both. No problem with this - however you need text to build good sites. This means you have to write words and tell the surfers about yourself and what you want them to do and what your dream is and how they are going to make millions.
CONTENT Adds value to your Web Page.
Value can also be added to the Images, Objects etc on your Web Page. (That is Page Rank ?/10 (PR?/10))

You can name your images their location url's to match your KEEYWORDS and/or variations.
example:- rename image001.JPG  call it keyword.jpg (better to use lowercase)

you can also add <alt="here you put some text that will appear if the VIEWER has BLOCKED IMAGES">  (the " " at either end SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED)
again you can add your KEYWORDS and/or variations.

you can also add <title="whatever you want to call the image"> (the " " at either end SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED) When the BROWSER HOVERS over the image with the MOUSE, the TITLE will be revealed.
again you can add your KEYWORDS and/or variations.

example from
<img src="http://www.yourdomain.ws/jfue/s123/image001.JPG" >
<img src="http://www.yourdomain.ws/keyword/keyword-variation/keyword.jpg" >

with <alt=" ">
<img src="http://www.yourdomain.ws/keyword/keyword-variation/keyword.jpg" <alt="here you put some text that will appear if the VIEWER has BLOCKED IMAGES">

with <title=" ">
<img title="whatever you want to call the image" src="http://www.yourdomain.ws/keyword/keyword-variation/keyword.jpg" alt="here you put some text that will appear if the VIEWER has BLOCKED IMAGES">

The same is can be used for a HYPERLINK

<a href="http://your-target" </a>
there are differences though. HYPERLINKS only use the <alt=" "> if there is an image associated with it.
a HYPERLINK should ALWAYS be ended with </a>

<a title="whatever you want to call the image" href="http://your-target" ><img  src="http://www.yourdomain.ws/keyword/keyword-variation/keyword.jpg" alt="here you put some text that will appear if the VIEWER has BLOCKED IMAGES" ></a>

There are many factors involved when seeking a HIGHER Page Rank ?/10 (PR?/10).
Outside influence also affects your PR. The more links to your Web Page, that are from Websites featuring SIMILAR KEYWORDS the BETTER.

The Google-Bots etc can easily be OFFENDED TOO. Pages can be rejected or given a LOW PR for CHEATING
adding REPEAT KEYWORDS, Hidden TEXT (same coluor as background, or obscured with images etc) is FROWNED UPON.
STOP WORDS and SYMBOLS .*/#~:{} can turn the Google-Bot etc away if featured in your <title> </title>

FACT - GET THIS SECTION (<head> </head>) WRONG AND YOUR PAGE (<body> </body>) IS WORTHLESS
<head>
<title> </title>
<META TAGS> I could go on forever here but I have to stop somewhere, besides I don't know for sure I have presented this INFO to well.
</head>

I have much, much more of the SAME, SIMILAR so if this information has been useful to you any you would like further assistance please just ASK,

I think the main answer to this, is that in this day and age a website is a must.

Since the website obtained from GDI is a personal one, and can be used for anything, this should be taken as a huge opportunity for any project the prospect may have had in mind.

Business (Gdi and/or any other)
Family (staying in contact as a lot of families are dispersed. A chance to show latest photos and more to share with family)
Personal (any other personal motivation)

I guess its all in the way you put it across that really matters.

Hope this helps

Rachel Bouchet

Rachel I totally agree with you...for I was just communicating this to friends and family who think that www is just email...shake me wake me...

And not just any site. Some of you guys have some really nice information, but your site is too busy...people don't want to spend a lot time falling asleep at their computer...

Shorten the walk to golden fleece, and leave the other stuff in background!!~

GDI has the best promotional materials I have ever seen...."BUT" ( here comes the but ) the materials are severly lacking as related to this topic.."Why do I need a website?" Maybe I am missing something here but if I wanted to target GDI to prospects that want or need web hosting the first thing they would see using the GDI promotional materials is the opportunity vs. the fantastic benefits of .WS hosting. Anyone willing to share ideas or comments?

 This is only a suggestion but we are trying to build a name as well as the many other things we do here, we are not just another web site we are the WebSite and we want everyone to equate .ws with WebSite as much as possible it takes an extra second to type it in but this will reward the whole GDI .ws family. I also try to use the word a little extra just to make sure people who see it are pre-thinking WebSite

    I would like to hear what others think about this or other word use suggestions.
                                                Thank You bmaestas at the EntertainmentFamily WebSite.

i like the way you build your website and i would like you help me to do so
Hello Julie!

Me personally, I like the smaller font size!  If you notice a huge majority of sites on the net use the same as what you are using.  Now in some cases, larger sizes are used, but only to draw attention to a particular subject or area!

Have a great day!

Frank

p.s.  Maybe you should of initiated a poll on the topic.....

Font size is an issue and should be based on your target market. I have reviewed hundreds of travel websites aimed at the high end luxury market with small text. The people who can afford high end luxury travel cannot read small text. So they go elsewhere. Readability is critical. Small text is a typical young designer giveaway. Size your text for your target market.

Hello all..My name is Scott.  I recently signed on and completed the website and added links to my yahoo messenger profile.  I have a extremely tight budget and am struggling to get by.  Were fixing to have a baby at the end of this month so a second income is paramount.  We both work fulltime jobs but I pay childsupport to my ex and its just rough.  Id really like some help with the site builder to set up a nicer page.  I couldnt figure out how to get a different background in...mine is white, and I had problems with moving things to where I wanted them on the screen.  If anyone out there has the time to lend a helping hand it would be much appreciated.  Also, one of the things I've been asked is, is there a long term contract?  I honestly dont think there is but have nothing concrete yet as an answer.

Hi Scott,

This can be done on the cheap. The thing to do is work at it until it comes right. The bacground color is in the <body> tag in an HTML document. No there is no fixed contract at GDI

Thanks for the comments.

I decided to stick with the smaller font size www.harleytours.ws
It generates sales even though I need to work on it some more

               Welcome to GDI  I hope everything goes well with you &  your new family.
                  I am not exactly sure as to why you want to change a background.You choose a suitable template and gather together the graphics you need .You can  also use  banner ads. . .

. It is a good idea to look at the templates decide the layout  you want then go to the drawing board and first prepare the layout and text and graphics you want to use .Then follow the instructions carefully and put it together..the only changes I have been able to make using webbuilder is just change to another template.Sad.
                You didn't post what you had done on your website so far , please do.  No contract except the monthly payment of $10.the rest is up to you. Wink
