Interesting question Frank.
For me the question should be split in two
What makes the person visit and then what makes him stay.
In my experience having a product or information on the site the surfer wants is the first answer. In todays world a surfer has an preconceived idea that they want a pair of Nikes or Bottle of Famous Grouse or go to London for example. If your site has this info you are likely to attract a customer. This is quite different from the traditional interuption marketing strategy used in the press and TV where the media is trying to interupt your train of thought and ram some product you probably don't want down your throat.
Secondly the site needs to be visually pleasing and generate trust. Sites with lots of info tend to show that the owner is reputable.

Hey Frank, I know u must be getting tired of this, but, GREAT SITE!
I'm a real newbie at this, so I hope u can help me out. How did u include the video on ur page, and with that nice television set too?
And did u use the sitebuilder or FTP? Is that template provided by GDI or? I want a template that looks something like that too!
Thanks in advance, Kang

hello frank,
to be honest with you , i haven't seen your website but it seems like you've done a reall good job on your website and I am here wondering how to start mine and make it work, I am a new member of GDI actually just this month, and I am getting crazy in trying to make it work, I don't have much knowledge on computer to tell you the truth , well I don't care if you call me a dummy but hey, I just want to try this kind of business! This is really crazy but thank you for giving the time to read this .....

Hi everyone! I just visited Frank M. and Michael T. 's websites to get a feel of what others are doing with theirs. They are great !! Thanks for allowing others to view them and get some ideas! I had mine up a running, and then I had a few people tell me that it was boring as all get out, and that they would rather listen to an Amway sales pitch or become a Jehovah's witness! I did not let it get me down! Constuctive criticism, there is always room for improvement I think. Right now, my website is parked under the GDI replicated website until I get some more ideas! Thanks for the help! Miranda L.

What program did you use to build your site? My is so bland: smartbizops.ws
Julio, I really like your website. You were asking Frank what program he used to make his website. I like yours better. What program did you use to make yours? It obviously was not the one provided by GDI. Those templates are too bland and boring and people can tell right away that it is a GDI site. Plus I have had difficulty adding content and formatting my webiste using the GDI provided software. In the end I have ended up not using it. So, now I am paying $10 for a domain that I am not even using. Lee

Hello Everyone! Thanks for participating in the poll. Hopefully, it will stir up some talk/converstion in regard to what visitors and people in general look for when visiting a site for the first time. And give us (GDI-ers) a few ideas on how and what to include when creating our own sites.
Frank
Hi Frank, Is it better to create your own website or use the one already provided? Can the one provided be altered at all?
