Title: My .ws Website
Post by: mack88 on October 09, 2005, 01:14:48 PM
Hello Everyone!  Thanks for participating in the poll.  Hopefully, it will stir up some talk/converstion in regard to what visitors and people in general look for when visiting a site for the first time.  And give us (GDI-ers) a few ideas on how and what to include when creating our own sites.

Thanks,

Frank

Hi Frank!

I like the concept of your site, one page: short and to the point. However, it looks a bit "busy" to me.  There is too much color change and some of the wording is very small. (eg.  Tap Into The Massive Growing Demand For Domain Names & Earn a Income For Life!). Just my opinion! :-\

Great Website Frank!! It's just enough info to really get someone excited about GDI. One thing I did notice was the Black, Green, Red you are using in the first paragraph and again in the paragraph with "don't delay - join Global Domains..". It really made me jump around with the different colors. But the content and the fact that it is one eye catching page was Great!

:)NICE!!! If it hadn't been pointed out I wouldn't  have noticed the colors.  The message caught my eye first ... ah, just what I was looking for ... let me watch this movie ... this looks like the opportunity I've been looking for ... and you've signed me up!! Simple.
In the future I'd like to see a link on your site called "How I made the McMillon Millions with GDI!!!"  Wishing you much success.

Again, thanks to everyone that participated in the poll and of course for the comments to my site http://www.DuplicationNation.ws!  I am not an expert site designer.  Just picked it up over the years.  I will most likely add more content in the near future then ask for more feedback!

My initial thoughts/idea when creating this site was to have it colorful in order to immediately grab the visitor's attention.  I think I accomplished that!  It might be too colorful/busy.   I will consider that as well!  Again thanks for your comments!

Great page Frank.......brief and to the point but informative enough to hold my interest....I never tired of reading and was left wanting to know more at the bottom of the page.   The old show biz addage...leave them wanting more (and they'll seek it out).

Good job,

Interesting question Frank.

For me the question should be split in two

What makes the person visit and then what makes him stay.

In my experience having a product or information on the site the surfer wants is the first answer. In todays world a surfer has an preconceived idea that they want a pair of Nikes or  Bottle of Famous Grouse or go to London for example. If your site has this info you are likely to attract a customer. This is quite different from the traditional interuption marketing strategy used in the press and TV where the media is trying to interupt your train of thought and ram some product you probably don't want down your throat.

Secondly the site needs to be visually pleasing and generate trust. Sites with lots of info tend to show that the owner is reputable.

Hi everyone!  I just visited  Frank M. and Michael T. 's websites to get a feel of what others are doing with theirs.  They are great !! Thanks for allowing others to view them and get some ideas!  I had mine up a running, and then I had a few people tell me that it was boring as all get out, and that they would rather listen to an Amway sales pitch or become a Jehovah's witness!   ;D  I did not let it get me down!  Constuctive criticism, there is always room for improvement I think.  Right now, my website is parked under the GDI replicated website until I get some more ideas!  Thanks for the help!

Julio,

I really like your website. You were asking Frank what program he used to make his website. I like yours better. What program did you use to make yours? It obviously was not the one provided by GDI. Those templates are too bland and boring and people can tell right away that it is a GDI site. Plus I have had difficulty adding content and formatting my webiste using the GDI provided software. In the end I have ended up not using it. So, now I am paying $10 for a domain that I am not even using.

Hi Frank, Is it better to create your own website or use the one already provided?  Can the one provided be altered at all?

It depends on what you want to do.  I cannot say what is better for you.  The websites provided cannot be altered.  They are replicated websites.  IMO you should continue using the invite system to build your business.  When you are ready to build your site and know what your niche market is, then build a website.  It does not have to be about GDI.  It can be about anything you want it to be.  Most people think they have to use their domain to promote GDI.  No that is not the case.  You can use it to redirect to a lead capture page, or promote family functions and hobbies.  It's your choice.

Hi,

I got into this business mainly for the website and to make money as well while I promote my jewelry business.  I have just completed my site, but I need to know how do I now promote this business through my jewelry site?
Can you give me some suggestions.
Also, please feel free to check out my site for Mother's Day!

Hi Pam,

I think you forgot to include your website link in your post.

Here are some ideas to promote the GDI opportunity through your jewelry site:
1)add a banner at the bottom of your page to link to the 7 minute video
2)add a form for your visitors to subscribe to your newsletter (eg - subscribe here to get updates on my latest jewelry deisgns)
once they are subscribed, you can send them regular information about jewelry AND the GDI oportunity
3)add a hyperlink at the on your footer that says " site powered by GDI" or "site hosted on GDI"

All the best,  :D
Melissa

You know Frank Im new to this business about 1 week, at one point I was absolutely confused you name it every thing but the kitchen sink was thrown at me .
All I wanted was a specific starting point and keep it simple and wanted to crawl before I could walk. But no I was deluged with all these well meaning ideas, you answered the question I was seeking stick with the status quo until such time you learn and feel confident then build your website. The answer in a NUTSHELL

I use the word "dynamic" a lot when describing web marketing ... it is an incremental and always evolving process.

You have to constantly learn, apply, test, refine and then repeat ... it's like any business. ;)

I have changed from .com to .ws and had people ask why? With my links tab on my web site we are getting questions about GDI pretty regular so we decided to do the business. Having been in network marketing for over 30 years we know the potential. Our last venture gave us a good 16 year run but like most MLM's of the past finally fizzeled. We saw the future of GDI and decided to jump back into networking again and are excited about a "product" that will always have a customer base. All of our old "downline" is hearing from us.

Hello Everyone,

Just re-signed up with GDI January 10, 2008. Created my first site page in GDI Sitebuilder page by January 12!
It was a little quirky at first getting started but once I reviewed and decided on what and how I want to present information from this site, it is actually working out to be a great spring board for all my activities!

Since I am into Computers, Writing and Music ( in that order for now), I decided to use my GDI site to talk about my computer business and network marketing. Interestingly, Google had listed my site within two days of bringing it up! Yes, that was by Monday the 14th and it appeared in top twenty through Dogpile Search as well as 5th on Google! All within 2-3 days! No..don't ask me why that has happened that way....but I can tell you...I have already been on the Internet for a while and definitely understand site building! I do focus on getting the right information together as quickly as possible and keep it simple!

Here is my GDI site.

http://www.salvatorezingale.ws

I am getting this feeling that I should right a small e-book about why this has happened this way! And I am definitely considering it a benefit of joining GDI! But then again...if I was just a John Smith.......Well the search engine results may have been much different! But there are facts, statistics and information, I use when considering search engines and sites, that I am saving for publication, so maybe you will find something interesting at my new site or one of my other sites!  :-X  I have produced sites for my business customer's and those sites rank high too, but I have been around for a while, just not with GDI for any length of time...yet!

Much Success with your GDI business!

Hello Everyone,
Here's my website so far

http://www.ritaanderson.ws

I find the site builder to be a very frustrating experience. Things don't seem to want to go where I believe I'm placing them,
What does it do for my site, MAKE IT LOOK VERY MIS MASHED.
Posting on this forum is usually useless since not too many people reply, and when they do it's to promote their biz, or products.
Being honest here.
Anyway, If any one wants to contact me, and offer some sincere honest assistance, then please contact me through my website.
I'm not a newbie online, I know how to promote, and how to write articles, just don't know how to use edit builder to make my site look as professional as I like.
Have a good day everyone
Rita Anderson :)

Hello,

I have been a member since 2005 and I have only about 24 in my down line. Even if I did not have a down line I would use this web site builder.  The others are so complicated and have hidden charges and I am very happy with the freedom this web site has from advertisements.

I have to admit that most of my down line find the web site builder difficult and I remember when I first signed up there was a video that walked me through the back office.  It really helped.  Why can't I find that anymore?

I want to share my web sites for other members.  If any of you are interested in walking in health and never fearing cancer again, I have a web site with free ebooks that explains what I have learned since 1988 about natural healing and cancer cures.  It is so simple it is insane so many in the US chase their cancer.  We are a nation of cancer phobics.  Of course it is the result of a health care system gone insane with racketeering and charging insane prices and using insane therapies.  You don't have to worry about spending all of your retirement years spending your retiremennt on drugs.  Health is NOT found in drugs that the AMA pushes.  Be blessed   www.cfhsm.ws    www.MyMiracle.ws

Title: Website to help my Downline
Post by: M Bryant on January 27, 2008, 10:07:30 AM
When I first joined GDI it was a while before I figured out how to promote it.  I decided that it should be easier for my downline to get some basic tools to market GDI online.  So that's why I set up this site:

http://www.cre8tivemedia.org/

It is still in it's infancy but I would love if people would give me feedback on it.

Thanks,

Hello, new family.

I joined a few months ago but I am just building my website.  I don't have many signups in GDI, but I hope to soon.

I am learning a lot about what I can do with the sitebuilder and it's really fun building my own site.

I've seen some of the site that you've created.  Excellent  ;D.

All feedback on what you think of my site, the wording / tone, overall appearance, etc, good or bad, would be appreciated .  I want my site to look and read at least a little bit professional  ;).

Thank you and I hope to hear from you.

To our success,

Title: Creating A Unique Look

Hi Everybody,

I'm still a beginner when it comes to internet marketing, but I'm starting to understand a few important things about creating a successful website.  At first, I built my site by using my sponsor's information, and that was fine;  a few sign-ups followed.  I started to post links to everything I was doing, which looked nice but wasn't terribly organized or terribly attractive to others.  I decided to combine what I see some people doing with their blogs and others with their sales pitch pages, and the result is here:

Writing Haven's Internet Marketing Niche (http://writinghaven.ws)

It's still a work in progress, but I'm giving it a whirl!  Tips and critiques are welcomed.

Hi everyone, if you didn't catch my post in the "Intro" section, my name's Ben   ;D.  I've been trying really hard to get things to work for me over here.  I've been with GDI for a little over 2 weeks, and I've only had 4 sign ups.  I've always worked in sales, so of course my ultimate goal is to become the top producer.  It's gonna be tough to get there,   :-[ some of these guys have literally millions of leads to work with.  So basically, I'm starting from scratch...

Now, I have come up with a lead capture method, and I am paying for an autoresponder service.  I do know that GDI has one built in, but unfortunately those lead captures only show the animated movie and not the dvd movie.

So, here's what I did.  Check out my page, and please leave me messages or responses... or better yet, contact me thru the website on my contact us link.  I would love to hear from you all.
We can help each other get what we want... LET'S DO THIS BIG!  :o   ----->>>  http://newcareernow.ws

I used flash and dreamweaver to build the site and then did the hosting option through GDI. Dreamweaver makes the loading of the site to the server very easy with ftp.  :)

Nice Sal,

I like what you did with the bio and sliding your banner in there with your other site.

Will

I just read and looked at some of the sites built by others.  They were impressive, but the majority were "selling" the opportunity and not the "domain".  I only just read that in the Marketing part of this forum.   It just so happens that I have tried to do just that with my site.  (Please note, this GDI website was my 3rd domain hosting company so I have developed using 2 other site-builders.  I find there are lot's of advantages to GDI, including the opportunity)

http://www.sistersuzy.ws

Please note that I am also trying to drive the Spanish speaking world to the domain site as well.  Another point I am "going to" do is put together an advertising co-op for mailing out post cards.  By giving out my downline the post cards they put their domain name on it and put the postage to their own list of people that might be a prospect for a domain presence.  Probably ought to put this as a topic under "marketing ideas".

Hello,

I've recently updated one of my .ws websites and gave it a brand new look after about two years.  www.Team-Vision.ws  There are so many things you can do with your domains, whether it is a business, hobby, etc.  Just continue to work on your site, improving the content and look of them and you will have a successful presence on the Net.  Once you finish your websites, make sure you come to this forum and post your url so that everyone here on the GDI Forum can see your masterpiece or work of art.

Another suggestion or tip I would like to share with you is.  Share your completed websites with your family, friends and co-workers and you'll be surprised when one or even several of them ask you...where and how can they get their own website.  You simply direct them to your signup page.  It's that simple.

Hi, newbie here.  I have just finished phase I of my website.  Now I want to add some refinements to it such as a hitmeter and guestbook on the bottom because I have confusing data on who is viewing my website.  For instance what is the difference between 'Hosts' and 'Uniq Visitors' on the traffic page?  Who has a good, free, hitmeter?

If you want to critique my website goto:  www.godsroundup.ws

I think that it will be controversial and generate a lot of hits eventually.  I got about 400 visits since early Feb.

I think your website looks AWESOME!!! You have alot of Great content and it is layed out really nice. The only suggestion I would have is maybe just make your lettering a little larger. Besides that I believe you have just created a very nice money making machine.  :)

Great Job!!

Excellent websites.  Keep up the fantastic work.  One tip if you choose to use it.  When you have outgoing links (urls poinitng to other websites), you should have them open in a new window.  You want your visitors to remain at your website as long as possible.

Hi, You made a great start but there is a layout problem on the right side of the main white block where there is a whole stack of unreadabel text. I suspect this may be because you are using a very wide screen resolution.

Yes interesting use of your GDI domain. The images where you sell a drop shipping deal force your front page to be very wide and some people may not like to scroll across to see the full benefit of this page.

Hi Debra, IMHP, Good content. You might like to give your pages names instead of numbers to make it tie together neater.
To do this (if you don't already know  :) ) when in page editor, click on properties, and you can choose what name you want for your page. You could use home or welcome for your index page ie:
www.myunitedplan.ws/home
 and so on.
Then you could take out the text on your 1st page which says page1, page2 etc and replace them with links to your other pages. To make a link rather than put the URL onto your page, for example, if you typed funtimenow whilst in design editor, you'd then highlight that text, go click on the link icon at top of editor, a box will pop up for you to enter the details of that url.
Hope this helps.. :)
All the best Dave

Hello Everyone!  Thanks for participating in the poll.  Hopefully, it will stir up some talk/converstion in regard to what visitors and people in general look for when visiting a site for the first time.  And give us (GDI-ers) a few ideas on how and what to include when creating our own sites.

Thanks,

Frank

www.FNJConcepts.ws

Hello fellow GDI-ers.

As always I like to share with you the updates that I make to my websites.  After much thought, I came up with an idea (not original), but a different look.  Originally, www.FNJConcepts.ws (http://www.fnjconcepts.ws) redirected to various websites and lead capture pages that I have all across the Internet.  Yes, I received a number leads and traffic from the website.  However, after about a year of it looking the same, I felt it needed a new look.  So, what I did was take a few banners from various programs and resources that I use and placed them on one page.  Something a little different.  Although, there are only a few banners, I will add a few more over the weekend.  Not too many of course, I do not want to over do it!  Just testing it out for now...your thoughts please!

Frank

VISIT MY WEBSITE AT

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK????

Hi Maria,

That's a great start to your website.  One thing that I learned along the way is that every page should have the same layout.  Each one of your pages have a different layout.  That would confuse your visitors in most cases.  Settle on one layout and use it throughout your entire website.  Keep it up and I look forward to seeing your updated website very soon.

Ei (enticing and intelligent) Earthlings,

Just landed... take me to your leader!  ::)

I just want to announce the launching of my brand new Yasol WebSite Int'l.- www.Yasol.ws with it's own search engine on the side. You better check it out. And not to mention all the best products I gathered while being scammed about the internet.

If you'd care to visit, you'll get to watch a free movie, too! LOL ;D

I've been 2 months now with  GDI, but my sponsor Maggie Cody forgot about me already. Up to now I don't have leads to send love-letters to and promote GDI. She promied me sometining like 10,000 monthly leads, but I don't see any in my mailbox downline or what? I may not last with GDI for long if it goes on like this. I have my own leads but I dont know how to bulk upload them..?

I hope I can find my Angel here and she'll lend me at least a finger nail.

Thank you very much.

The way you add more text is by clicking insert and choosing the appropriate box. Most likely the insert blank content.  Each particular block can hold so many characters. I think it is like 4,000 or something like that. Hope this helps

Hi Miranda, I think your site is looking good..In site builder you can only add 3000 (including html) characters per block..Once you've reached that you'll need to start another block, and so on..until your page is complete.
There will be a gap between each block of text..
Keep going it's great.

Dude  your webpage TOTALLY  ROCKS!!  I  have been on here a week and checking everyone's pages out.  yours is  ABSOLUT ! (my spelling= my enthusiiasm  roll with it)   I  have put this page on favorites and will refer back often. Not about to steal anything  but just so you know  i changed your theme to springtime for you cuz the control panel was there. maybe you did not plan that  but I really like what you did  my site is not up yet  I have a vision in my mind that won't fit ito the site builder here so doing HTML  on my own. I  know- pul down the source view and copy from other folks. Well what I have in mind is so innovative that I have not found an example yet to copy the theme.
Tony

When I first joined GDI it was a while before I figured out how to promote it.  I decided that it should be easier for my downline to get some basic tools to market GDI online.  So that's why I set up this site:

http://www.cre8tivemedia.org/

It is still in it's infancy but I would love if people would give me feedback on it.

Thanks,

Thanks Tony,
Always good to hear positive feedback.  All the links are on there to help people promote GDI, feel free to use them as you please - I wouldn't consider that stealing :)
I did leave the control panel there on purpose so users would have the ability to change the look of the site.
As you can probably tell, I didn't use the sitebuilder to put this together. I'm looking to speed up the page load time because it is a little slow, so you may have to deal with waiting a few seconds between pages until I get this taken care of.  Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions or if I can help you out.
Thanks again,
Matt

I created this website to highlight my experience with Chaga International.  (I also use domain forwarding with www.MyChaga.ws to direct traffic to my business site)  Not sure I'll keep it. I'm in the 7 day free trial period.  Creating pages was ok.  Limited size of 3000 characters kept it difficult to post what I wanted and no real clear indications of how to put more than just that on a page.  But, am playing with it to see if there's something I'm missing.  So far I give it a "c".  But then, I am a novice at the sitebuilder 3.0 (Have previous sitebuilder experience on with my Yahoo site.)

Also if you are looking for an additional way to make money
with your website look at the opportunity every one with a web site should join.

If you're looking for a free Map counter at the end of the page you can find a very handy counter to find out from what country your hit are coming in.

Also you'll find a Free form for Autoresponder you can put on your website

All the best.

I purchased a new .ws domain name about a month ago, not knowing what I was going to do with at the time.  Just had to have it.  Anyway, to make a long story short, I now own www.DuplicationNation.ws and have put it to work for me.  That's one of the many purposes of domain names and websites; to make them work for you!

There are some things I still want to do to the website and will make those changes and updates in the upcoming days...

Hope everyone in GDI Land is doing fantastic...to your continued success...Ciao

I am somewhat surprised at the result of the poll.

CONTENT rules every time. Agreed your opening words and the overall appearance of the site needs to arouse curiosity and make people want to go on and explore further than your landing page. Content is ultimately the only thing that will get you ranked high with the search engines. You can put as many keywords as you like, but if they don't appear in, or have any relevance to your content or the content simply isn't there, the search engines will ignore your page.

What really makes me really angry is sites that offer you something free on the front page then when you have given them your name and/or email you find that the REAL product is on offer as an 'upgrade' or that the 'free' only applies for a brief period  and ultimately you are being asked to pay to get what is on offer.  Even if you don't buy then, if you've given your email you'll get spam forever.

There are also a huge amount of sites offering e-books at up to $97 that you can get for less than $10 on Clickbank or ebay or even free. Google for the title before you hit the pay button.

These are basically dishonest marketing techniques, do you really want to copy them?  If someone is offering you something free, be VERY SUSPICIOUS. Either there are hidden costs and conditions or its a scam.

I checked out all the URL's in this thread. Only one or two showed ANY evidence that the owner had done any work of their own to create content. Others just cloaked affiliate sites for other opportunities. You have a fantastic resource in your GDI domain and hosting - why waste it like that?  If the person landing on your site has already seen that opportunity, 99% of the time, they will just click away immediately.

GDI is a great business but it IS going to cost you money to promote it to the point it becomes cash-negative or your commissions actually exceed your subscription each month. And don't forget, every second you spend promoting it is also a 'cost', so even the so called free traffic generators are not really 'free'.  To make it really attractive you have to add value to it in some way, by providing original content before you take the visitor to the opportunity.

So, to re-cap, if you hadn't found these sites here in this post, how WOULD you have got to them?  Basically unless the owner had sent you an email with the link, you had googled directly for the domain name or something similar and got it by accident,  or you had found the link on a site like Linkreferral, you would almost certainly NEVER have found them and if you had, except for www.blue-swan.ws, I can find nothing truly original whatever.

There are ZILLIONS of sites out there for people to look at. Ask yourself why people should look at yours rather than someone else's GDI site or another opportunity altogether?

I'm a little confused about the whole website idea. Okay A LOT CONFUSED.
As i understand there are already standard websites available and until I get everything going it seems to me that going with one of them will work for now and then maybe getting more original in the future to just expand.

Hello Everyone!  Thanks for participating in the poll.  Hopefully, it will stir up some talk/converstion in regard to what visitors and people in general look for when visiting a site for the first time.  And give us (GDI-ers) a few ideas on how and what to include when creating our own sites.

Thanks,

Frank

www.team-vision.ws

I've been reading through a lot of the comments here and there are some great ones.  Regardless of your critique, I am appreciative of your opinion.

I will admit the current version of the website is not impressive.  At one time, it did have a lot of content (several pages) and included a member's area.  Since then, I have taken that site down (not by choice), kept the domain name and use it merely as a lead capture page.  Guess what?  It works tremendously for me.  Isn't that the purpose of a lead capture page?

With GDI you have complete control over what you want your webiste to do.  You can use the templates that GDI provides or go all out and create your own masterpiece.  It's up to you.  After years of being a member/affiliate with GDI, it remains a premier opportunity with great products.

Create your websites, then expose them to the world.  Those two actions begin what we call "Your Internet Presence".

To Your Incredible Success

Have a great day...

Frank

Hi everyone,

I've been designing my own websites since 1999, so it's been a lot of playing around, I now build websites for myself professionally and love it!

I've always liked the "Auto-Play" replicated sites, I believe they simply have the most powerful effect! So I decided to try my hand at my own page that does a similar task, the aim of this page is to capture email addresses into my mailing list after watching the GDI video (I looked everywhere and could not find anything, but did find a brilliant quality version on YouTube, so I embedded that), once the visitor has submitted their email address through the form on my site, they are immediately redirected to the "Watch DVD" replicated page, which tells them more about the business and should get them excited about GDI! (So I now have their email address in my mailing list incase they do not sign up immediately, with some friendly emails, hopefully they'll join up soon enough!

And if the visitor does not enter their information into the auto responder form, they can click the 'skip' link below the video, this will take them to the main 'Cash Flow Forums' site, which has GDI ads strategically positioned throughout the site! I am working on building some better information soon... Please see my site at:

http://www.cashflowforums.ws/

Please offer any suggestions or comments about my site, thanks so much! Feedback appreciated!  ;D
