46  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: Two Questions For You on: March 03, 2011, 03:41:26 PM
Hi Frances,

1- You use your GDI username.  Smiley

2 - With GDI Coop it really depends on how, or if, you personally market the page they give you.  On average you will mostly be getting people already in GDI and you can earn a little money from the commissions generated when they pay their membership dues.

You can get GDI sign-ups if you let them do the advertising for you, but like any team page these are few and far between.  I wanted to test them so I became a member for 6 months.  (To me 6 months is the minimum to testing anything online.)  I did not advertise the page they gave me, and just bought into the rotate option.  In that 6 months I had one GDI sign-up and about 10 people who were already in GDI sign up under me.

Not saying it's good or bad, that is just my personal experience.  And again, I did not spend any time at all advertising the page they gave me.  It was all through their autopilot program and meant only to see if their results were the same as many of the other "teams" out there.

47  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: Which part are we paying for Domain name or hosting? on: March 03, 2011, 03:29:40 PM
Hi Charles,

The $10 a month is for hosting.  The domain for us is actually free.

The reason I say this is because you can use our hosting for a domain you already own outside of GDI.  There is no fee for doing this and the hosting still costs $10 a month.

Hope this helps!

48  .WS/GDI Discussion / General Comments / 403 Forbidden OR You don't have permission... on: March 01, 2011, 05:35:35 PM
Hello everyone,

I have been getting a lot of calls from some very worried GDI members.

If you are trying to access your site and cannot and are getting a 403 Forbidden message...

DO NOT PANIC!   Cheesy

From time to time servers must do maintenance and this is happening on the GDI servers right now.

Things will be back to normal very soon.

This happens from time to time on all hosts and is nothing to be worried about.

I'm not an owner of a server, nor have I any experience with them, but I do know it happens.

So just hang in there, all will be back to normal soon.

Hope this helps avert your possible panic.  (And don't feel bad, I had a moment of panic myself.  Hehe!)

49  .WS Business / Training / GDI Has A New Training Blog! Looking For Continual Training? Go Here: on: February 28, 2011, 04:40:44 PM
Hi everyone!

Did you know that Global Domains International, Inc. now has a training blog for GDI affiliates?

They do!  And this is a great place for you to go for a constant source of training.

http://gdiaffiliateblog.ws/

Ongoing training is so very, very, very important.  It's funny, I get asked this question a lot.  And one of my newest members, Mrs. Susan Prementer (wonderful, hard working lady), asked me it again.  She said...

"Vincent, how in the world do you know how to do all of this stuff???"

I had to giggle but here is my answer.

It's finding training resources and reading them every day.  It comes with always wanting to learn and grow.

Remember, the more you know the more value you have to others.  And the more value you have to others the more they will want to follow you around and do the things you suggest (like joining GDI).

So, make it a habit to visit the official GDI training blog and any training blogs/sites you might find.

You won't learn everything in a day.  But every day you will learn little bits.  And in time those little bits add up to a lot.

Soon, people will be asking you, How in the world do you know all this stuff???

Here it is again.  Hope to see you there and be sure to visit GDI on facebook and leave a comment about the blog.  I'm sure they would love to hear your feedback:

http://gdiaffiliateblog.ws/

Have fun and happy learning!

50  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: Purchased Leads on: February 28, 2011, 04:12:50 PM
Hi Ethan,

Personally I do not buy leads and cannot completely answer your questions.  But I will do my best to help you a little in this area.

Number one, the leads you buy are meant to be called.  You really must call them as soon as possible.

Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with spam filters.  I love them because they keep out the garbage I never signed up for, but they also keep out things I might want.

If you just rely on email you are losing a great many chances because more than likely many of the emails are being caught by a spam filter.  It's very sad but it's very true.  So, they may not be opened because they may not have received them.

Few of my friends ever look in their spam folders.  I doubt many people do.  So please, call them.

Now, about getting new leads that do not respond.  In the leads tab of the GDI member's area it does say this...

"We guarantee that phone numbers are accurate and that these leads will have a good attitude. Any leads not meeting this guarantee will be replaced upon request."

To me, that means that if they do not have a good attitude on the phone or the phone number is not accurate they will replace those leads.  It says nothing about emails not being opened.

So, here is my suggestion.  Call those leads at soon as possible.

After that, write GDI support and ask them about emails not being opened and see what they say.

Hope this helps.

51  .WS Services / WebSite Development / Re: Building your site on: February 19, 2011, 09:13:14 AM
Hi Nancy,

Both are really great ways.

I am more of a control freak so, while the GDI site builder makes it really easy, there are some things it doesn't let me do.  So, I prefer to build my own and then use FTP to upload it.

However, I have seen some people use the GDI site builder and make some amazing sites.  Perhaps they just put a little more time into really learning the editor while I mostly just played.

I think it really comes down to what produces the results you want and what you enjoy doing.  You could always give the GDI site builder a try and if you don't like it switch back to uploading it yourself.

And of course you also have the option of using WordPress or Drupal to build the site too.  They don't actually have to look and behave like a blog.

Let us know what you come up with and give us a link so we can ooh and ahhh at your creativity.  Smiley

52  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: I need help/advice... Been doing this almost two mo. and still no downline!!! on: February 19, 2011, 09:04:34 AM
Hi Nick,

First off, don't feel bad.  Building a business takes time and for most people involves a learning curve.  Marketing and recruiting is a new world for most.

Now, I don't know how you have been marketing or trying to build a team, so I don't know where you stand, what you are using or even what you have learned.  So, let's get back to the basics.  Shall we?

As an affiliate of GDI your job, your only job, is to share GDI with others.  In itself, that is not hard.  You don't have to be a salesman, or an expert at the internet, or an expert at anything other than being yourself and sharing.

Do you have friends or family members?  Do you have a Facebook account with friends there?  I'm sure you do.  If so, why not just go to them and honestly talk to them about GDI.

"Hey Sally, I see you are on Facebook a lot.  Have you ever thought about making your own blog?"

"Hi Uncle Joe, you do really well with your woodworking business.  Have you ever thought about having a simple website with information about what you do?  A place where you can have your contact information, maybe a map to where you are located and perhaps your most recent deals or projects?"

"No?  I know of a place where you can build one very easily and it only costs $10 a month.  And I'll be honest, the reason I am asking you this is because this company also gives money back to their customers for referring other people.  So, if I can get a few people to use them to build a website or blog or share their photos, then I will have a free website.  And hey, we could even do the same for you.  I love the word free, and having a free website sounds like a deal to me."

Now, I'm not suggesting using those exact words but do you see what I am saying here?  Because most people will try and convince you that the best way to build you business is to hide.  They will say DON'T talk to your friends and family.  DON'T include your real name and DON'T give out your phone number so people can call you with questions.

I say, hogwash.  Will you build a $5000 a month income talking to your friends and family and facebook friends?  No.  But your goal is not to build $5000 a month income RIGHT NOW.  Your goal is just to invite people in.  Get your own $10 a month paid for.  And then as your team slowly grows you can move on into more advanced things.

Now, about those more "advanced" things.  There are many ways you can move beyond your friends and family.  How about going to the mall and finding those little kiosks in the mall.  You know, those little shops in the center?

Look at their stuff and go up to the person and ask if they have a website you can send your friends to so they can look at what they have.  If they say no, say Oh?  Well, have you ever thought about it?  Most will say it's too expensive, it takes too much time, it's too hard.  Let them know that it's really inexpensive and you know of a place that it's only $10 a month.  Not only that, they have tools that will help them build a very nice website using only drag and drop.  How easy is drag and drop.  A lot of small business owners have no idea that it can be so inexpensive and easy to build a website.  Most don't need something fancy, just something that says here is our website.  You know how they can make that happen easily.

Now, I know most people don't feel comfortable talking to others.  Believe me, I wasn't comfortable at all talking to others about it.  But that's because I felt that I HAD to be a salesman.  I HAD to close them.  But, once I stopped being a salesman (and a bad one at that) and just started talking to people, things changed very quickly.

Stop thinking about making money and start thinking about how GDI can help this or that person.  What would THEY like?  How can it help THEM?  Because if they sign up because you are a "master closer" or if they sign up because you took an interest in them, either way they signed up.  Only being friendly and honest is much easier for most of us.

I -suck- at closing.  I really do.  So I don't even try.  I just ask questions.  Answer questions.  Sometimes I end up saying this might be something they are interested in.  Sometimes I say it's not.  I have people call me all the time and I have to tell them that GDI is not for them because they need $1000 by next week.  You do?  GDI is not your answer.  I can show you how to slowly build an income, but if you need money that bad you really need to go and get a job.

Most may balk at that.  OMG, you turn people away?  Of course!  Because the money will come and stay long term if you are honest.  If you just want people on your team then it's not going to last.

Now, let's talk a bit about online things.  One of my methods is classified ads.  I know, most people hate them and they really are not that effective.  Honestly, it takes a LOT of work.  It takes posting a LOT of ads EVERY SINGLE DAY on a LOT of sites to start getting leads.  But you know what, some people don't mind that tedious mind numbing work.  I, for one, sort of enjoy it.

Now, most people don't sign up right away.  In every ad I write I include my name AND my phone number.  Do I get spam calls?  Yes, and I do hate them.  But more importantly I get people calling up saying, tell me more.  And that's your goal.  To get people to say, tell me more.  Because what they are saying is, I'm interested but I want you to quiet some fears.

Even then not all will sign up.  But if you stay honest and speak to them person to person, not sales person to person, your chances of them joining you go way up.

What other online methods are there?  There's making videos.  You don't have to sit in front of a camera.  You can use something like Camtasia or the free Camstudios to make a video.  You don't have to say I MAKE MONEY.  Just talk about GDI.  Talk about what you learn.  Tell funny stories.  Talk about what your plans are and invite people to join you.

Make an informational series.  Nick's Never Ending Tales Of Making It Big On The Internet.  Start relaying what you learn about marketing.  In time, you will get a following.  In time you will begin to get team members.

Make a blog!  Make one about what YOU are passionate about.  Making a blog about making money is fine.  But you can write about any niche and still lead people to GDI.  Make one about fishing and have a text widget on the side that says, "Like my blog?  Discover how you can build one easily and even make money with it!  Click here to find out how."

Again, it's going to take time but as your blog gets popular, as you learn about ranking for your niche, you will start to get visitors.  And some of those visitors will want to know about how THEY can make a blog too AND maybe even make money from it.

I know, this post is getting really long but just a few more things, I promise, and then I'll let you reply...

Let's go back to offline methods.  Have you ever thought about asking a store if they will let you put your business cards on their counter for $20 a month?  For instance, how about a convenient store or gas station.  Talk to the owner and tell him you are an independent representative for a web hosting company that also helps people make money.

Tell him that since his store is SO popular you would like to display your cards somewhere in his store.  Ask if you two can make a deal.  Ask how much he would charge you to do that.  Even suggest making him an account and him doing that instead of you.  Just talk to him.  He's a business person, but he's also just a person.  The worst he can do is say no.  And if he does, go to the next store.

You can use your own or you can use GDI's pre-made ones.  Both are fine.  And then you can buy a business card stand for around $1 to hold them up and make them obvious.  People will take those cards.  Not all, but some.  It can be a good way to get team members.

You can even talk to pizza joints around you and ask how much they charge for putting ads on their menu or pizza boxes.  You could even talk to the pizza delivery guy and tell him that if he joins maybe he can tape one of his cards to the boxes as he delivers them and build his own income.  Don't mention how it will help you.  Mention how HE can make some extra money doing what he already does.

Alright, Nick, I know this has been long but here is the short version.

Just talk to people.  Use your real name in everything you do.  Be open to talking to people.  Heck, if you don't mind a bit of phone spam give out your phone number in your ads.

Because, Nick, your one job is to tell people about GDI.  Don't make it too complicated.  In time you can get complicated.  For right now make your goal to have a free website.  That's just 10 people.  Once you reach that, make your goal another 20.  And just go from there.

Hey, I hope this helped.  Leave a reply.  Let us know what you think.

Hi Ashley,

Like Charles, when I visited your page I saw a red themed page with two banners on it.

Two things may be causing you to see the redirection.

One, you may not have waited long enough for the DNS to work itself through all the servers.  Now, don't ask me to explain that at all, but I do know that it can take some time before changes are reflected.  Some servers take longer than others.

Two, perhaps your browser cache is at fault.  I had this same issue with another page and SDBoltsFan suggested that may have been the issue.  The moment I cleared my browser cache, the page displayed properly.

Isn't technology fun?  Cheesy

Good luck!

55  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: How do you promote just domain sells? on: February 16, 2011, 07:29:40 PM
Hi Crystal,

Absolutely!  You can use http://website.ws/index.dhtml?sponsor=YOURGDIUSERNAME&language=english

Please be sure to replace "YOURGDIUSERNAME" with your own personal GDI username.  Smiley

And yes again!  Smiley

Understand that we do not make money from people.  We make money from the commissions generated when someone uses our products and services.  So, whether they join GDI for the products or for the business opportunity, you are earning a commission because in both instances they will be paying for their own domain name and hosting.

Hope this helps!

Hello F Onodi,

Yes, and great question!  We should all work on supporting our team, and this is a great way to do just that.

All you need to do is go to your GDI back office, click on "Downline", and on that screen at the top you will find a button that says, "Move Downline Members".

Keep in mind you can only move people that are in their trial period, and you can only move them to members of your 1st level.

Hope this helps and again, great idea!

That information is correct.  I just used it to access my blog files via FTP and it worked like it always does.

Perhaps some clarification and additional information is needed?

Host:  ftp.your_domain.ws   (if you have a .com it would be ftp.your_domain.com.  Be sure to replace your_domain with your actual domain.)

Username:  your_actual_gdi_username  (the name you use to log into your GDI member's area)

Password:  your_actual_gdi_password (the same password you use to log into your GDI member's area)

Port:  21

Hopefully you find out what is going on soon.  Probably something small.  Support will definitely be able to help walk you through it.
