31  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: your own domain space on: April 27, 2011, 09:39:00 AM
Hi NafisM,

It is up to you what you do with your domain and website, but yes, you can certainly use it to grow your GDI downline.

For instance, you could create a blog and have links on that blog leading to your GDI affiliate pages.

You could create a static website dedicated entirely to making money and again have links leading to your GDI affiliate pages.

You could even create a little button that says "Buy me a beer" or "Sponsor this website" or something which leads to the GDI affiliate pages.  (That just hit my mind and I know of nobody that does it.)

It is completely up to you as to what you do with your domain and website.

All that being said, it really doesn't matter what you create your website around, you can still lead people to GDI.  It doesn't have to be about making money.

You could make a blog about gardening and give tips on growing a garden.  Then, on the side, you could have an ad or banner that says, "See how I can afford to garden all day.  Click HERE."  And have that lead them to GDI.

It's all up to you and your creativity.

Hope this helps.  Smiley

32  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: About GDI Coop and GDI on: April 27, 2011, 09:33:53 AM
Hello Jessmond,

You should really ask this question using the GDI Coop support as GDI Coop was not created by GDI and is not run by the GDI administrators.

That being said, the person that joined your GDI Coop downline may already be a GDI affiliate.  This would mean they would not join your GDI downline as they are already a member.  They may simply be using the program, as you are, to grow their own existing GDI downline.

Hope this helped.

33  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: Can I? on: April 27, 2011, 09:29:34 AM
Hi Thomas,

There are several ways you can do this.  One is to use the banners and buttons provided in the sitebuilder.  Click on 'Tools' and 'Galleries' to find the buttons you would like to use.

You can also create a link using the text box.  Simply click on 'Text', then click on 'Source' and use the code below.

Code:
<a href="http://website.ws/yourownlife">Visit GDI Here!</a>

That will produce a link that looks like this:

Visit GDI Here!

Please be sure to replace "yourownlife" with YOUR personal GDI username as THAT link leads to MY affiliate page.

Did this answer your question?

34  .WS Business / Team Building / Re: multiple accounts? on: April 20, 2011, 08:41:33 AM
Hello SLavender,

You may only have one account per person.

There are several ways someone can be placed in your downline.

1) You can refer them to any of the GDI affiliate pages encoded with your GDI username.  Using mine as an example www.website.ws/yourownlife (where yourownlife is my gdi username) will place someone in my downline if they sign up on that page.  The same applies for all of the GDI affiliate pages as long as they include your GDI username.

2) You can have a person call 1.800.MY.DOT.WS (1-800-693-6897) where they can get more information about GDI.  However, as soon as they call that number they will be asked for an access code which can be your GDI username OR your email address.  If they cannot provide that information they are not allowed to continue further and must contact you for that information.  (To see what I mean call the number yourself!)

3) You can sign up as a premium member and win the GDI lottery!  (Had to throw that last one in there, it's always fun to win stuff!)

Hope this helps.

Hi SLavender,

My Mom always told me that the only stupid question is a question not asked.  So, ask away.  And be sure to also look over all the FAQ you find in the forum and your GDI member's area as well.  Also, be sure to attend the weekly training webinars.  The more you know, the more value you have for others.

Now, to answer your question, there is absolutely no limit on the amount of people you can have in your first level.  Smiley

36  .WS/GDI Discussion / General Comments / Re: Is this forum dofollow or No-follow? on: April 20, 2011, 08:07:09 AM
Hi Mohammed,

Quick answer, the "rel=nofollow" tag is not attached currently to profile links or signature links.  In other words, it is "DoFollow".

If you want to know if a website has that tag on links you can use the Firefox addon called "NoDoFollow".  If you do a search for "NoDoFollow" the first result should lead you to the Mozilla addon page where you can install it.  (For free of course.)

Another favorite of mine is something called SeoQuake.  It's a free addon that will put a line through NoFollow links (if you tell it to) but it also will tell you a LOT more about a web page.  (How old it is, how many backlinks, how many pages are indexed, Alexa rank and so on...)

BUT, please stay current on the GDI Forum rules before posting any links anywhere.  Smiley

Hope this helps.

37  .WS/GDI Discussion / General Comments / One Easy Tip To Stay Safe On Facebook on: March 13, 2011, 07:19:27 AM
Hi everyone,

This post doesn't exactly deal with GDI, but many of us use sites like Facebook to market with.

As you know, some people's accounts get hacked and, even though the people who do this are plain bad, it really is up to us to protect ourselves.

So, if you use Facebook please make sure you are using their Secure Browsing option.

To see if you are using the secure browsing option go to Facebook, log in and look at the top address bar:

If it just says http and not https there is a setting you need to change.

On the top right of your Facebook page click on Account and then Account Settings.

Find where it says Account Security and click on Change.

Place a check next to where it says Secure Browsing (https) and click Save.  It will look like this:

Now you are using secure browsing!

I know this doesn't have anything to do with GDI per se, but since so many of us use Facebook for marketing GDI I thought this was really important.

I truly hope it helps.

38  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: GDI wordpress theme question on: March 13, 2011, 06:03:59 AM
Hi Lewis,

That is a tough question to answer because it is a custom WordPress theme.

In other words, it was not designed by Global Domains International, Inc. and being a custom theme made by someone else it's hard to know how yours works in particular.

You really need to contact the person that designed that theme for you, or at the very least contact LightWord support because the theme was adapted from the LightWord theme.

With that said, here is how I -believe- it works and what you can do to fix it.

Lot into your blog's dashboard.

Under "Appearance" look for a tab called "Widgets" and click it.

On the far right hand side of the page should be the widgets currently in use.  Open each one and look for the title and link of the broken links and change them.

Now, again that is just a guess and is how many themes work, but since that is a custom theme it is impossible to really know.

Contact the person that designed your theme and ask them.

I truly hope this helps.  And yes, I see exactly what you mean.  All of the links under your GDI Products and Services section do not work properly.  Ouch!  Sad

39  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: Hi! I'm having some troubles... on: March 10, 2011, 11:05:30 AM
Hi Ramon,

Without more information there is no way to determine what the problem is here.  So, GDI support might be your best solution.

However, it sounds to me like there is some confusion in what links are being used.

So, be sure they understand what their GDI username is and what their domain is.  These are not always the same.

Also, did the last person build his own website?  If so, what link is that person using for the signup button?

"GDITraffic" is the companies username.  That is where people are sent when there is no sponsor.

Make sure to teach them which link to send people to and how to place a link on their website.

If none of this helps, again, you may wish to contact GDI support for more help on the issue.  They can access your accounts and see what is going on.

But, what it really sounds like to me is the wrong links are being used and the wrong GDI usernames are being used.

I really hope this helps.

40  .WS/GDI Discussion / General Comments / Re: Emails to prospects on: March 07, 2011, 01:53:37 PM
Hi Andreas,

When you get an email notification that you have a new prospect that means that the person entered their information into the system already.  That means GDI will start sending them emails on your behalf speaking about the company and opportunity.

So, you should either call or email the person and just let them know who you are, and that if they have any question they can feel free to contact you and you will be happy to answer any questions they have.

It could be something like:

Hey Prospect,

Recently you came through my website looking for some information.

This email is just to let you know that if you have any questions, need any help or just want to talk to someone one on one you can contact me at any time.

My name is Andreas, and you will find my contact information below.

Have a great day and I'll look forward to talking with you soon!

P.S.  Please hit reply and send and let me know that you got this email.  I would greatly appreciate it.

Once they reply you can reply back to them.

Hey Prospect,

I hope you are having a great day.

Hey, thanks for replying to my last email.  It really helps a great deal.

Listen, did you have time to go over our information yet?  If so, what do you think?  Do you have any questions I can help you with?

I'm always ready to answer questions.

If you want to review that information again feel free to drop by my website again at this address.

Looking forward to talking with you!

Have a great day!

Just put things in your own words and be yourself.  Most people hide behind their computers and never talk to their prospects.  They will be happy to hear from you.

Hope this helps!

41  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: Need some ideas on: March 07, 2011, 01:34:31 PM
Hi Frances,

This can be a very difficult question to answer.  There are many methods to market GDI, and what works well for one will not necessarily work well for another.

For instance, for some social media is the best way to spread the word about GDI.  Because some people are social people who have a knack at getting a following (not programs that just grab people left and right), and starting conversations.  If you watch them on Facebook or Twitter you will see them chatting with people all day long.

For others, though, this can be a real challenge.  Yes, you can learn new skills, and there are definitely some tricks to starting conversations.  But not everyone has the mindset or the desire to make that happen.

So, saying what's best will not hold true for many people.  It's up to you to really decide how you want to market GDI, and then go out and get training on that particular method and put that training into daily action.  And you do that by taking a look at what your likes and dislikes are, what your natural passions and strengths are, and go from there.

And there are so many ways to market GDI and a majority of them work quite well, depending on how you understand and use them.  A great method will not work at all if you don't know how to properly use it.

So, let's take a look at the few methods you have already mentioned...

Classified Ads

Classified ads do work well.  However, there are some "tricks" to using classified ads.  (And I'm no guru on the subject.  I use them and get a great response from them.  However, it would benefit you to train yourself further on the topic and to learn copywriting skills.)

Number one, there are a LOT of people using classified ads.  So, what happens shortly after you post your ad?  It gets buried.  Now, many people using classified ad sites do so by using a search feature (which is why your title should always be keyword relevant while at the same time being strong enough to prompt the person to read it), but even using search your ad will get buried relatively quickly.

So, to get any kind of appreciable traffic from classified ads you need to post multiple ads every single day.  And it should be done on multiple sites as well.  The more the better.  In time, as some of your ads expire, you will be able to renew those AND post new ones.  Eventually giving you thousands of ads out there working for you.

It generally takes at least a few weeks of doing this before you start getting notices in your email about potential affiliates or customers.  My rule of thumb is you need to use a particular method at least 6 months on a daily basis before you can accurately assess whether or not it works.

But that's not all.  Nobody goes into classified ad sites looking for information about GDI.  In fact, nobody cares about GDI at all.  What they do care about is their own problems, their own needs and their own desires.  So, when writing a classified ad it's generally never a good idea to write anything about the company at all.  You write about what that person wants, and what benefits they will get when they click through to your website or call/email you.  One of the most powerful words in the English language is the word You.  Use it often.

The point of the ad is not to sell a person.  That is what our affiliate pages are for.  The point is to get the person to take action.  Again, whether that be to visit your website or contact you personally.  Ads should be short, should generate desire and interest, and should have a call to action.  That's it.  Anything else is wasted space and will cause the person to move on before they even get to the end.

Traffic Exchanges and Safelists

The first question you should ask yourself always is, who will be seeing my message?  Why are they here?  What do they want?

So, who uses traffic exchanges and safelists?  Affiliates of other programs and/or companies.  Are they looking for another company?  Absolutely not.  They are looking for success.  Not another program to leapfrog into only to leave again after a few months.

Knowing why they are there and what they want, you can now use that to your advantage.  You now know how you can help THEM, and that will give you an idea of how GDI can be of benefit to them.  And then you speak to that need.

You can give them free training on a particular subject, training that they need, and then work GDI into it after they receive a few of your emails and begin gaining trust in you.

For instance, you can give free training on how to build a successful blog.  Maybe on the page you are showing you can say something like, tired of clicking all day long with no results?  Discover how to coax the search engines into sending you qualified, targeted traffic 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  Fill out your name and email and I will send you my free training.

And then you can train them on how to build a blog and how to move it up in the search engines.  And during that training you can suggest that GDI is a great place to build a blog because GDI offers a great service and a very simple way to build a blog AND will help them make money by doing so.

You see, our goal is not to get a person to join GDI at first.  Our goal is to discover what a person needs, and help them.  Or what a person wants, and give it to them.  We have to find out why that person will want to join GDI, not why WE want them to join GDI.

And that is the same with every other method out there.  Use your creativity for this.  Find what works best for you.  Take knowledge that you already have and apply it.

This works when talking to people face to face, when talking to small businesses or organizations, when using classified ads or traffic exchanges, when making videos or writing articles.  It all boils down to helping people.

GDI chose as their business motto the quote by Zig Ziglar, "You can have everything you want in life if you just help enough other people get what they want."  They didn't choose that motto on a whim.  Smiley

Well, Frances, I know this isn't what you wanted but I do hope it helped.

Good luck!  Keep learning, keep growing and never give up!  Smiley

42  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: can't see the downlines info on: March 07, 2011, 12:33:43 PM
Hello Nasser,

Here is what it says directly above the downline table in your GDI member's area:

Why are several cells in my downline table blank?
We changed the information available in downlines to better protect the privacy of our affiliates. Contact information is now displayed for all affiliates in your Level 1 downline by default. If you move one of your new signups to a downline member, you will still see the contact info since you introduced the signup to GDI. Levels 2-5 of your downline do not display all information in order to respect individual privacy.

Additionally, each affiliate has the ability to choose for themselves whether their personal information is displayed to their direct sponsor from within the Contact Preferences section of their account.

Will I still receive commissions for downline members with blank fields?
Of course you will! Nothing whatsoever has changed with the commission payout structure. This is purely a cosmetic change to better protect the privacy of all our affiliates. You will still receive commissions for active accounts in your downline.

Hello all!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

It's been... well, years since I've posted one of my websites on here.

So, I have a GDI blog that is part training, part musing, part marketing.

It's been doing fairly well and I've been spending a lot of time doing SEO work (both on-site and off-site) but the time has come to actually make it look good.

I know that might sound a bit backwards, but my thoughts are Action First, Perfection Later.

So, care to help me perfect it a bit?  You can leave comments on it here, you can use the contact form on the site to give me advice or you can leave a comment on the site itself (just please read my comment policy before doing so).

Even better, maybe one of my articles or pages will help you a little.  That's one of the biggest goals of the site, after all.

Anyway, you can visit it here: => http://YourOwnLife.ws

Can't wait to hear your thoughts and critiques.   Grin

And thanks!

44  .WS Services / WebSite Development / Re: Site Builder on: March 03, 2011, 04:12:42 PM
Hi Mirandola,

Excellent idea and using the site builder this is very easy to do.

First, you need to know the URL to your social network profile you want to link to.  Let's take Facebook as an example.  Go to Facebook and click on "Profile" and then click on "Info".  This shows your personal info on Facebook.  At the very bottom it will say Facebook with a link right next to it.  Copy that link.

Now, open up the GDI site builder and click on "Text".  Notice that the box that opens has three options at the bottom:  Design, Source and Preview.

Click on "Source."

This is where you enter in the code for a link.

Code:
<a href="THE LINK YOU COPIED FROM FACEBOOK">Visit my Facebook profile!</a>

Then click "OK."  That will produce a link that looks like this:  Visit my Facebook profile!

And you can do the same for any social profile link (or any link for that matter).

Hope this helps!  Smiley
