1  Administration / Announcements / Re: September 15 Newsletter... on: September 16, 2005, 11:53:10 AM
"All advertising that incorporates any of these things DOES need to be approved prior to implementation."

Is this only applicable for print ads, or also for any logo use on websites?

If approval is necessary for the latter, what's the best way to get a website approved?
A site is either online or offline, and folks that use the sitebuilder might not find it easy to be sure that the draft is  not linked...

Thanks!

Fortunately I haven't had any spam complaints after sending out up to 75,000 leads since I started in February. I have now stopped the purchased lead programs since I am concerned over spam.

Wow - that's a big number of leads. How were your results? Even if only 0.01% sign up, that's already 750 people!

Due to the Spam policy I've only bought leads once, and haven't tried since.

I hope you can't get flagged for spam abuse for using GDI's new leads!
(Are you protected if you only buy leads this way?)

Buying 100'000 GDI business cards and dropping them over a residial area from a C-130 transport plane is also considered spam.
I'm surprised its never been mentioned before. Now that could get you into real trouble!

 Grin

Spam is also not very effective at recruiting members - how many of you actually take anything that lands in the spam folder seriously?
That's where personal contact comes into play - just knowing the person can make a GDI invite really legit.

I'm currently sneaking in links to GDI's hosting services on my websites. Just to be safe, I keep links at least one click away from the main page, so that if my personal pages are linked from forums, it isn't considered as spam.

I saw an ad from Yahoo some time ago. About the same price and the services barely beat those from GDI.

And without the income opportunity...

Some people might say 100 MB is little nowadays, but who needs 10GB of hosting (I'm speaking of cheap bulk hosting services...

It's like the cell phone companies selling you so many extra minutes that you can't use...

How about 25 hours a day plan? Ha!

I have large image galleries on my space, and 100 MB is plenty!

And I do webdesign's professionally - a private site over 40 MB is already a bit too big...

[I'm commenting on the space, because at first I thought, that's way too little.]

Oh, and another thing - the hosting servers seem top of the line:

Ultra Fast Dual 3.6 GHz CPU Pentium 4 Servers
   Fully managed 24/7 site monitoring
   1 GIGAbit, multi-homed tier-1 carriers

Third - most lastname domain names are already taken... .WS might be a last chance and it definately beats all other extensions (.com, .net, etc).

Actually the .WS is the biggest plus on the whole thing. Web Site...

my 2 cents...

Only 6 pages?

Is this being changed with the new update that's happening today?

I personally don't need to use templates (I've been into internet publication part-time since 2000), but that sounds way too limiting.

I looked at some SiteBuilder examples before and noticed that its really easy to change the template by simply changing the URL (database driven?).

Woulnd't it make more sense to have a limit in the 1000s?

Yes, but how can you find out how much of your allotted space you're using?

If I right click on my off-line website folder (exact mirror) I get two values:

Size
19.9 MB (20,942,631 bytes)
Size on disk
27.3 MB (28,721,152 bytes)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the difference is due to FAT allocation unit size and can vary greatly depending on the way the partition was formated.

So, is there a way to get a reading from .WS itself? Please post!
