I just loved the advice in your post.  And yes you have Hit the Nail On the Head!  People always think that such and such works for everyone else and not for them because... Just fill in the blanks -> I live in a rural area and there aren't many people for me to talk to, I don't know alot of people, I already shared an opportunity with my friends and family that didn't work so no one believes me about my offer.

These are all just EXCUSES!

Our business is SIMPLE!  We just need to find people who are like minded and for whom the product and the opportunity are right for.  When we find those types of individuals we have a winning combination that will sporn "Duplication".

Keep up your great work and sharing, I know that even the teacher can learn from his students as I have from you.

Though I do not know you personally, I must share my opinion with upline contact.

It is certainly nice to be part of a group tht shares in everyones success, and makes people feel like they are part of something bigger then themselves.  Though I believe that ONLY YOU are ACCOUNTABLE for you own SUCCESS!

Educate yourself about this business, marketing, advertising and any other related areas.  Then align yourself with others, not necessarily those only in GDI but other online marketers and pick their brains for ideas.

Read books on business related topics - Internet Marketng, Website Design etc.  Find the things that you are at first comfortable with, THEN do the things that are uncomfortable until they become comfortable.  You may even checkout webinars ad conference calls to participate in to accelerate your learning curve.

Great response and great advice.

Too many times people are afraid to approach their friencds and family because they do not have the confidence in themselves, or do not want to approach them until they have had success that they can show.

As yo may recall from the trainings that we did with the GO TEAM calls;  it is all about POSTURE!

My advice is simple;  Become the success you wlll become by seeing yourself already in that position.  Share your excitement about the GDI Opportunity with enthusiasm and it will become contagous.

Working with you (Howard), I have seen the leader inside emerge and you developed your posture very well.  Keep up the great encouragement to everyone you meet.

I think that your question is one that most people who have joined GDI have asked themselves, and were not honest enough to ask others to help answer.

The first thing I feel is necessary is to ask yourself WHY you joined GDI?  When you have that answered the rest gets easier.  Next I invite you to answer this question; Why does anyone want or need to have a website?  This may in fact be the first question to answer, because the answer to this question will arm you with the HOW TO Market this company and its product.

Then your next step is to learn everything you can about the industry we represent.  Defining the industry will also help you in preparing your marketing campaigns.  An education can be expensive yet well worth your time and money if you in fact come away from it learning more than you knew before.

They say Success leaves clues, so look to those that are succesfull both here in GDI and throughout your personal relationships and ask for their help in guiding you forward.  Reading about people who you respect and honor have alot that can add to your personal success.

As I read my response I am thinking that it may not be exactly what you want to hear because of its vagueness and yet I know that without the Foundation (which is what I am laying out for you) one can never experience real success.

Hi Everyone,

Though you have answered the original question that has been posted I would like to add  a caveat to think about;  When and who do you move the new members under?

This is a question I am often asked by my organization.  The best answer I have is that moving people under others is a great benefit BUT I also feel that we should have more than the first 7 days when they signed up to choose the person we want to put them under.

Other companies that allow placement changes give you up to 60 days to make that decision.  This is important and I think that all of us should request this of the company.  The reason I feel so strongly is that more times out of ten when members place others under someone they remove the accountability to work with the new individual.  This down right reeks!

Just look at the posts under the subject - what if my upline, etc.  People are dumping people under others so that they do not have to feel responsilbe to those people that they sponsored and dump thing like training etc. onto the new first upline sponsor in the lineage.  Then the problem of not hearing from my sponsor comes into play.  When the person finally learns how to navigate the backoffice and they view their upline list they contact the first person in the list who does not even recognize the name of the person because they did not personally sponsor them.

Back to the issue of moving our downline.  I have always let my immediate front line that I have a few new people and I will place them under the first ones that personally sponsor a person and then I will match that with placing my new person in their organization.  When I do move a member I send an email to the member that I placed the person under and tell them they need to CALL and introduce themselves.  If I learn that they are not doing this they will never get another placement.

A whole lot of ranting, but I hope I have made sense to most of you.

Over the last few years of having the pleasure to be working with you I felt it necessary to place my "kudoo's" for your start of this thread.

If people are serious about online marketing they can not ignore the Social Networking Forums.

The biggest problem that we have is our "Want It Now" mentality.  When posting in the social forums one needs to respect that it is a place to find people who are like minded.  It is not a place to post Free Ads!

Learn to be a professional networker and pick and choose those that you can befriend and help.  I invite you to write this statement down and put it near your computer; "CARE MORE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS/DISTRIBUTERS/DOWNLINE then you care about the Money.

The money will come when people feel like you are meeting their needs and then they feel free to share their money with you by buying a product you may be selling or join you as part of your organization.  Once again we are talking about building LONG TERM RELATIONSHIPS.  There is no magic here just some common sense.

I was brought up with the saying that Rome wasn't Built in A Day!...
      Be patient build strong relationships and it will pay off in the long run if you are to become successful in your endeavors on the internet.

Like all passwords and personal information KEEP IT PRIVATE!

Having an upline member tell you that he or she will set up everything for you and then do all the rest of the work so you can get the check is down right bogus.  The only person responsible for your success is you.  If there are things that you want to do and do not know how, first reach out to your upline.  No help, try here in the Forum.  Again I respectfully tell you that be watchful to the FREE ADVICE people will give you. 

Build relationships through IM and emailing with those so quick to give you advice.  ASk them how it is working for them. Ask questions of them to see just how much more their knowledge base might be ahead of yours.  And if the advice goes againest your own beliefs, please ignore it until you find advice that matches your beliefs.

I have found that here in this Forum as well as the many others I belong to that too many people are in a hurry to spout the next greatest thing since sliced bread.  They shout from the rooftops how good another program is to help you build your GDI business and when you question them you find out that they have personally only sponsored 4 or 5 people - and not one with the system they recommend.

Well I will stop at that because otherwise I could go on and on and bore everyone who has had these same thought as you have posted.  I wish you good luck and much success.  Success is here in GDI for the taking.

Excellent advice.  I would add that anyone who you are in contact with (the person at the supermarket who takes your money, the person you are waiting in line to pay with, the person who takes your money while paying for your gasoline, etc) these people are perfect suspects for your business.

The reason I refer to them as suspects is because we have not qualified them to be a PROSPECT.  Remember we are looking for those people for whom the product or service is right for.  When we do this we find people who will "Duplicate" our successes and not go out and try to reinvent the wheel.

Also, keep this in mind that the computer screen is now your best friend.  Learn to use chat and forums to find the right people.  Just remember that you want to build a relationship first.  To do that you learn to ask more questions about them and learn to listen for their answers, then determine if they qualify to be your prospect.

GLad to see that the Mentoring program has helped propel your business and that I can say that in some small way I had something to do with your success.

Hi Fellow GDIers,

It is almost 3 years since I was introduced to GDI.  I had been in NetworkMarketing for almost 16 years at that time and I was really "stoked" when I saw the potential that this opportunity had to offer.  Heck, it was being hailed as the next generation to basic email.

So like many of you I set out to begin building my organization and my pay check.  I found that (at first at least) all I had to do is send people to my movie and they got signed up. As time went on signups began to come slower and slower.  I went from doubling my organization every month to almost having no new signups.  Frustration was in the air.
