Title: Banner Questions
Post by: Susan A on July 22, 2005, 04:08:24 PM
There are a couple of places I would like to advertise the GDI banners, however, I am a bit confused.

They ask for only a banner URL, and a website URL.

Others ask for a banner URL and an image URL.

I've been able to do this to advertise other businesses, but can't figure out how to do it with GDI's banners???

One thing you have to make sure of is that java & flash are accepted where you're advertising. Some places only allow banners without flash or java (meaning they don't move or change).
Usually, you only need the URL link & the image source.
If where you are advertising at they do allow flash/java....you can go into your back office and click on "banners" and copy & paste the code of which ever one you are wanting to advertise.

Usually, a simple banner code looks a little like this
<a href=URL LINK> <img src=IMAGE URL LINK> </a>

Hi Susan,

Go to the banner section.
Scroll down to Gif banners - right click on the banner you would like to use - click on properties - copy the  adress Url. Now you have the Banner url.
You can do the same with any picture.

All the best
Stefan

You can use this one

I save my images to my computer, then upload them to www.photobucket.com (it's free).  Then you can resize them if need be.  To find out the size of a banner, right click on the pic and then click on properties and it will give you the size (among other info about the pic).

Is there a way the banners that we can use on the website can point to the cartoon ferarri movie, other than the one of the two human representatives giving the presentation?

Title: I need help with adding content later on
Post by: MichelleB on August 16, 2005, 06:21:43 PM
Okay so I finished my site (so I thought) and had everything looking the way I wanted it to!  Then I found a banner I would like to ad to my site.  I wanna ad it near the top of the page but when I click on add content it ads the block thing at the bottom of the page.  Any ideas or suggestions on the easiest way to get this at the top of my page?  I might have missed something but I can't figure out how to move things around without having to clear something and insert it in another spot.  Please help before I throw my computer outta my window!

My site is:

http://www.Work-N-Your-Pjs.ws

Thanks,
Michelle

P.S. It is weird that I'm sooo frustrated with trying to figure this out yet I'm having a blast and loving every minute of it? :o

Yes, you must be trying to use a space (or more than one) in your file name or path to the file, so instead of the file name being something like "my file name.gif", it needs to either be "my%20file%20name.gif" on your web page, or rename the file and remove the spaces.

Helo and good - what? Day, morning, evening -  to wveryone!

Much better to rename the file - change name in one simple word or instead of spaces you can use _, too. That would be My_banner.gif for example.

Have fun - we have it already!

FWIW Gdi should add a banner section to the site builder so you can plug a banner in easily. I would have thought this was one of the most basic things to do.

You can find banners in your back office area. Then copy and paste the html into site builder where you want the banner to be. :)

Yup I did know this - I am just saying they should be incorporated into the site builder as well.

I know the frustration you're talking about Michelle.   So far as I know you have to get it right step by step the first time.

And I found its better when you find something you want to near the bottom instead of the top. LOL   I have even did the  "One Line Down" shuffle creating an empty bottom and then pain-stakingly copying and moving each line down. I just realized  each letter of One Line Down...spells -OLD-
I use the Site Builder to get used to the program that is supplied....

I will try using the Microsoft FrontPage I have on the computer and see what I can do offline and then maybe just upload my own pages in time.

And the new version 3 is alot Better..thanks staff, importent, personel, techy type peoples in charge.   ;D

Have you tried the "insert" button that is on the chicklet underneath one of the sections?

"edit, clear, insert, delete"

I have had some success with placing information above an existing section using it -

I have been building my site and cannot get the code to transform into the actual banner! Is there anyone who would be willing to give me a simple, slow, step by step explanation of how to get that banner up?

Title: Re: Simple step by step of posting banners on sites
Post by: JDTutterow on September 07, 2005, 01:52:20 PM
Hi Brock -

If you're using the Site Builder to create your website, try these steps:

If this is a GDI banner, go to the "Banners" section of your members' area and get the code for the banner you want -
Choose your banner and click "Show me the code". Copy all the html code in the block to your clipboard -

Next:
1. In your members' area, click "My Domains" then "Build My Website" under Current Domains -
2. Click "Edit" in the row next to the page you want to add the banner to -
3. Click "edit" in the section on the page where you want the banner -
(If you're adding a new section, select "Insert html code" as the section type)
4. When the page editor opens, click the tab labeled "html code" at the bottom -
5. Paste the new banner code into the existing code at the location where you want it to be seen -
(I put a <br> or a <p> at the beginning and end of the code if I want the banner on its own line)
6. Click the "preview" tab -
7. If it's what you want, click "Submit"  -
8. If not, repeat steps 3 - 6 until you're satisfied
9. Then click the block under "Publish" on the row across from your edited page

Your updated page is now available for all the www to see.

Hope this helps -

Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if someone can help me.
I don't have any problem inserting other people's banners on my page.
Just copy and paste code.It works just fine. But I can't figure out how
to put a banner I created myself on my page.
I found a site on the net where you can make your own banners.
I did this and saved it to my hard drive as suggested.I have uploaded the
banner to my gallery at GDI website builder but now I can't put it on my page.
Well I can just put the picture of the banner there, but I don't know how to
make it a clickable link.Normally when you insert someone else's banner, the code
you paste in has both the source and destination URLs.
I don't need a source url for my banner because I've uploaded it from my own computer.
But how do I add my destination url to the picture of my banner so that it becomes a
working clickable banner.

I hope this doesn't sound too confusing?
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me! :)

Thanks
Debbie.

<A HREF="http://YourURL"><IMG SRC="http://SITEBUILDERGALLERYPICTUREURL"></A>

You can get the URL of your picture stored in sitebuilder gallery
  • in your SiteBuilder click on the link of the picture
  • when picture apears in the other window you rightclick and select properties
  • A new window apears and there is written URL of your picture
  • mark and copy it
  • paste it on the proper place in the HTML code written above

Title: Re: Banner Questions
Post by: DaleC on September 26, 2005, 08:12:49 PM
Hi Jennifer

This is fairly simple to do. Choose the banner you want. Click on "show me the code". You will get something like this:

<a href="http://website.ws/kvmlm2/my.dhtml?sponsor=username">

<img src="http://images.website.ws/banners/kvmlm2/468x60_02.gif" border=0></a>

The second line is the image link for the banner, the first line is where you want to point the banner to.

When using on another site, use the second line as your image file, the first line is your link. Use only the info between the " " .

Good luck

Dale

HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried to copy and paste banner HTML from the banners section into my website, and I have a few questions.

1.  Why can't I see the banner I choose first?
It says to copy and paste the HTML to put the banner below on your site.   Problem is I see no banner below.  No matter which one I select.
2.  Why, when I paste the HTML into my page, and preview it, do I not see the banner?  Nor do I see it when I go to my site!!!

When you add HTML you must be in the HTML screen of the website editor. I suspect this is the problem.

When I put the html code in my website it don't show the banner and I gave up

Would be fine when somebody test it too.

There are two ways to put banners on your site via the site builder.

Upload a banner to your gallery and insert it as an image or put the HTML code in the HTML mode of the site editor.

In HTML mode the following will put a banner on your page. It's important to put the " marks exactly as you see them here.

<center><a href="http://website.ws/kvmlm2/mydhtml?sponsor=USERID"><img src="http://images.website.ws/banners/kvmlm2/468x60_01.gif" border="0"></a></center>

Hello,

JPEG handles only still images. You can have someone create you a JPEG image for your Website or you could use Photoshop and create your own. There are sites on the Web which allow you to create your own logos, banners, etc. for free.

http://cooltext.com
http://freebanners.quickbanners.net
http://www.coolarchive.com/logogenerator.php

You can go to www.download.com and enter in "banner maker" or "logo maker" and download free software.

You can use this one

I save my images to my computer, then upload them to www.photobucket.com (it's free).  Then you can resize them if need be.  To find out the size of a banner, right click on the pic and then click on properties and it will give you the size (among other info about the pic).

Thanks for the heads up on photobucket.com .. Now I don't have to worry about how to get into Site Builder's Gallery.

You can upload banners to your webspace just to store them, now you have a url for that banner.  You can use a simple web page editor to make your own site as well.  I use Adobe page mill.  It's an old version but that is all I really need for simple webpages and lead capture pages.  I use MS front page also, but that is for advanced users.

Hello,

Sure hope this helps and if any one more experienced has a better way please jump in and help.

I have copied the code for one of the banners from my GDI back office. If you look at the part I highlighted (red) in the block of code, the highlighted part is the banner url. Please note do not us the highlight url in the example below unless you change the user name to your own!

When you have choosen the banner (from your GDI back office or some other source) you want to display,  just copy the part between
the " " (from http  up to and including your gdi user name) . Then paste the copied banner url to the place you need it ...this should work and display the banner of your choice.

A URL is just the actual address eg http://www.somesitesomewhere.ws/images/mybanner.gif

HTML is used to display a banner so typically you would use
<img src="http://www.somesitesomewhere.ws/images/mybanner.gif">

Hi everyone!  ;D

Today is my FIRST day with GDI and I'm VERY excited!!  ;D I'm doing the free seven-day trial but I will be paying thereafter.

My question is about the BANNERS!!

I tried copying/pasting the FLASH banner codes onto my myspace page and even though they do appear on my page, when you click on them they do nothing! Seems as if it is dead.  I then tried copying/pasting the animated GIF codes onto the myspace page and when I click on THOSE, I get directed back to the MAIN MYSPACE PAGE!! Why is this?? It's very frustrating!  The codes are obviously preset for a different link so I don't get why it's bringing me back to myspace.com??

Any thoughts and/or help??  ???

Not really sure why it isn't working for you.  I just loaded it with success. You have to accept "Custom HTML" to "My Space" profile and then load your banner.  If you need more assistance, let me know.  Take care.

Just a clarification for those who are trying to load the GDI banners onto "My Space."  Under the "More" tab on the left upper side of your "My Space" window, you will find an option to "add other modules."  It is here that you can add the "custom html" so that you can load your banners successfully.  Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Carol,
I tired the "Myspace" site you gave as it was different than mine.  I haven't been able to locate how to add the banners effectively yet.  Have you asked this question in the forums there?  Might be a good place to start.  Take care and will keep trying.

Does ANYONE know what the deal is with posting this stuff on our MYSPACE.COM profiles??  ??? I don't understand why this is such a difficult issue! I've checked on the myspace forums, and the way they are talking about posting codes like the ones GDI has given for banner should work but yet they don't, whether you're using the FLASH banner or the ANIMATED GIF banners.

I really want to advertise this on my myspace profile, as I get a lot of traffic there and yet I can't get this stuff to work -- and many others can't too! What is the problem here???  ???  >:(

Myspace seems to be a difficult issue to work out.  I am still trying to figure out why the banners don't work there as they work in every other location that I have tried.  This will have to be my new years project as I am going to be travelling for work again till after the new year.  Take care and keep plugging away.

Have fun in all that you do!!

Title: Placing banners/flash items on website

Hello all,

My name is Bill and I am new to GDI.  I am currently working on my website (to promote my GDI business) and have run into an issue.  I have never built a website before.  I am having trouble putting some items on my site.  In particular, I am trying to get the "income calculator" and "sign up now" button(from the Freedom.ws main site) to work on my site.  I can get the picture to show up, but you cannot click on it.  Can anyone help me?  I'm sure it's quite simple, but I do not wish to spend hours of trial and error!

Thanks,

How do you center the banners that are provided on the members page? I copy and paste the html code but the ads come out on the left side of the screen leaving a big hole on the right side on my web page. Here is my link, any comments or questions are welcome due to the fact I am a newbie and need to learn the business.

Hello Bill,

I know how you fell I was a first time user of the site builder when I joined.
It threw me for many loops before I started to understand it.

I can tell you that if any image is put on your website it must be entered in
with a code. That code can be found when you click on the Gallery section
when you are working on your ws website. Hope this helps a little bit.
Good luck.                                                                                     Watersa ;)

Hello Kim,

I was wondering if you found out why your link is not working.  :'(

Apossible answer your link is not entered right. one little letter,
the lack of a perioud, anything that is extra,or anything that is missing
will cause the link to not work. Check it over for problems.  8)

I just don't wanna waste time trying to figure out these couple things...wanna get to the promoting and money making.  if someone could help me out, I would appreciate it very much.  tried contacting my sponsor by email and phone, but have yet to hear back.  when I call, I only get his voicemail.

I have tried everything for hours too! Also a Newbie, dont know anything about webs. But this was supposed to be 'easy' with Sitebuilder?   I have tried the following Steps:
Edit, Text, then the 'spot' where I want it.. in Design tab - it doesnt do anything when I select table (nor Font, Style etc for that matter) when I copy it (in Source Tab) and save, I still see only the code in preview.. tried all the logical steps, and have read all the posts here :(

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hi all finally getting through with putting my page together but having a few minor problems.
I have copied the banner code into my web page but when you view it its just the html code?

Should it be about 12 or so lines of text or 1 or 2 simple lines to copy and paste.

While im here i tried a photo but it covered the hole page suggestions on reducing its size?

Also have tried to go back and edit some pages all goes well but when i save and go to preview it reverts back to my original work.

Thanks for any suggestions. GDIers  ???

Thank you my kiwi support help De Thierrry :).
love your web site, hoping to have something as good as that in the future.
Did you learn how to put it together yourself or some help from outside? Bit head wrecked about the hosting if i am using the webbuilder does that mean i am not being hosted?
Your forum is great as well sure its only a matter of time b4 more folk are passing through it looking for help.
Can I copy the images or do i need a code?

Love your country spent a few months over there. The aussie's are sound but got to say found the kiwi/Maori crew to be a whole different kinda fun folk.
Where are you living north or south island?
Im Irish by the way go the all blacks.
Ps could you have a look at what i have put together so far on my page and offer any advice.
Cheers skin -  Casey

You make me shy now :) and how you know I'm maori lol,

And no I learnt HTML all by myself, but with a lot of reading and making a lot of mistakes, but finally got the hang of it, actually I started out using the sitebuilder and did learn a lot of using HTML through the sitebuilder, but did find it limited in what I wanted to achieve on my website and NO! using the sitebuilder does not mean your page wont show or being hosted, but when using the actual hosting only, you've said to GDI that you want to make your own pages yourself and upload them to be hosted thats all.

At first I started my unofficial GDI forum for my downline only, but thought nope I'll open it to every GDI member, I must call it unofficial, because it is that, this is the main GDI forum and the bomb one I might say, but I don't mind it being unoffical lol.

And yes you can copy any of those images, they are not copyrighted and can be used anywhere.

And hey your welcome back to new zealand anytime ya please :) and there is good and bad critters in every race, but yeah we maori's always try to see the bright side of life lol, but I like aussies to, we all seem to click with one another and hey I have some irish ancestory too, we could be cousins LMAO, ohh and scottish as well as french as you can see in my last name.

And it's de thierry with 2 R's instead of 3, I did a bogey when I first signed up as a member of GDI, I spelt my name wrong, and when I saw it in members spelt with 3 R's I contacted support that it was only 2 R's lol, and also when I logged into the forums using the 3 R's in my last name, it stuck and also contacted support about changing that too, but they said they couldn't alter my name in here...sad  :'(

So yeah post your link to your page so I can have a jack at it.

Hi Mark

Your website looks awesome man, they must of added the new templates when they upgraded late last year, before that the templates where pretty basic, but to see them now, makes me want to go back to site builder :).

And yeah I see the HTML code still not converting, the only other way I know is to copy that banner image from in your back office and save to your my pictures on your computer, then go into sitebuilder and upload that banner image and place it on your page, then link it to what ever url you want the people to go to when they click the banner.

HAHA! yeah you spelt it right (Hangi), lol how else you gonna feed a tribe of people, you need to think of cooking in a big oven, so yeah ingenious idea, cooking in the earth, I love my hangi's to.

AND i READ YOUR BLOG!, man your a natural, you got all the potential to become financially free, people who join your downline are gonna be greatful to have an upline/leader/motivator/network marketer like you, just reading your blog, I sensed the great leadership skills you posses, man keep on blogging everywhere and anywhere, I see people scramming in to read your blogs.

I wish I had sponsored you now  ;)

You go for it man, maybe one day when we both financially free we will meet for real, and shake each others hand and then go partying lol

Peace out skin.

That sucks Patrick.
I have seen other people's complaints about the over seas cost for shipping the dvds.
Maybe they are allowing the posts up now but selecting the less harsh ones.
I thought the I had set my profile settings up yesterday to allow PM between myself and you.
I will recheck it. I clicked to allow bonzdee to have instant messaging and messages posted to me when ever you reply?
Might have f@#$%^ up somewere.

Might rethink the freedom page. If i use some of the other replicated maybe the option won't be there for people to request GDI
to have me send them a DVD.
Are you contacted firstly to see if you would like to have your account debited for the cost of sending a DVD to a potential sign up, by GDI?

The autoresponder you mention at the bottom of your page is it free and whats your thoughts on it? Any good etc?

Well hope all is well your end of the earth. Still can't get the banner situation sorted I  see a lot of people having the same prob's.
GDI whats the criac? Is there anybody out there?
Are you on skype Pat?

Just read this entire thread from "2007" til now. I believe this problem of not being able to make banners work started when GDI changed the website builder. There's never been a tutorial on how the make the banners work and it seems that these pages of repeated banner questions are only read by the folks that are posting the questions. I've kinda given up asking. I keep trying to make it work. I even used a post written by JD Tutterow. I guess his instructions applied to the old version of the website builder, because on my version there is no "HTML Editor" button nor is there an "Insert HTML Code" button at the bottom of the html box that pops up when you're adding text to you site! What I have been able to do, is insert clip art and insert hyperlinks to make it go to the GDI movie invitation page. You have to upload to clip art to your GDI site builder gallery(First). Then you can insert onto your page or pages and insert a hyperlink. Hope this helps a little.

Could someone from GDI post a new thread and explain to all new GDIers how to work the banners in. It is a big turn off for new trial members. People are pulling out. Its difficult to promote to new afilliates if you show them no confidence in getting them set up easy.

I posted in one of the posts I did to you about the banner by copying the banner to your picture folder and then uploading it to the gallery and then placing it on the website, hyperlink is just putting a link on the image so when you hover your mouse over it, you pointer changes to a hand, indicating the image is linked to a url,

Contact .Ws support about the issue with html banner codes not working in sitebuilder, maybe the more support emails they get on this issue will push them to get thier tech guys to look at it.

Banner Problem Resolved.

Hi all i have finally got a solution to the banner problem for all to use.
Everytime you copy and paste the code it comes out as code?

This is the solution.
1. Log into your account www.website.ws/members
2. On the left hand side click on "Banners"
3. Select the banner of your preference and click on "Show me the code!"
link
4. Copy the code for the banner
5. Select the "Domains" button from within your account.
6. Select the "SiteBuilder" link for the appropriate domain.
7. Click the "Edit" button for the page you would like to add the
button.
8. Select the "text" link option from the tool bar.
9. Select the "Source" tab.
10. Paste your Banner code in the "HTML Text" section using Ctrl and V.
11. Click the "OK" button.

Thanks to others who have helped out like De Theirry.
Please go have a look at my improved site now with banners and help for newbies.  http://mcaseymarketing.ws

Hope this helps a lot of you out.

Title: Placing banners on website.
Post by: B Parnell on July 05, 2009, 03:53:06 PM
I thought I could this---placing banners on website.  I'm still in the learning stage.  I copied  a
banner code and went to website and clicked on edit, but I couldn't paste it.  One tried and the code wound up on the heading.

I have looked and looked and haven't had any luck finding the right information to do this.

I have a Plug-in-Profit site and I'm working on it too.  I have it in Kompozer.  Some banners insert
ok and others don't.

I'm gonna need much help, but I want to learn how to do all of this.  Web design
is a wide field.  Thanks to anyone who offers help.

Hi,
First Copy the banner code..
To add the  banner code to your web page, go into your site builder, click edit on the page where you would like your banner to go..
When the page has loaded double click within the page, your page editor will then pop up. To insert banner code choose and click on source (at bottom of page editor, and middle of three options Design-Source-Preview)
Paste the copied banner code into the source page,  then click  to Design Mode,  you can move your banner around by clicking into it, holding and dragging to where you would like it to be, once satisfied with the banner position,  to leave the page editor, Click Save and then Go Back on the movable menu..Hope this helps
PS..When copying and pasting use the Edit option from  your browser this seems to work whereas the copy and paste in the Site Builder doesn't always.
 All the best Dave  :-\

Hello Dave H,

Thanks for your response to my banner question.  Your instructions worked fine the second time I tried it. The first time I tried I missed a step.

Title: banner html solved site builder 4.02
Post by: J Bruce on July 20, 2009, 03:09:44 AM
Ok i figured out whats going on while trying to insert html code for banners . it might work for other html as well.

while editing , click on text

the menu where you enter text pops up , select the source tab at the bottom next to design and preview

(if you already have copied the html code )on line 1 place your cursor next to the end of the small snippet of code already there ( > ) to the right of that or on line 2 .

heres where i found i was messing up . do not right click and paste !! instead ( on windows ) ctrl + v will paste the code correctly on each numbered line .

click OK .

I noticed this when i did what you all are doing now . the code gets pasted on the first 2 lines instead of 3 - 15 lines .

so paste hotkeys are the way to go . im not sure what they are in linux or mac . ya might have to google if you dont already know .

Hope this helped :P

Title: Making Current Banner link to the latest replicated site or a different one
Post by: ThomasAndrade on August 22, 2009, 01:09:03 PM
To anyone who knows:

I want to upload a GDI banner to my GDI website. But I want it to link when clicked on to the most current replicated site that the has the fancier, latest, greatest presentation (i.e.GDI Video 2-Autoplay). The one it sends people to is old and i just want something new for people to see when they click on the banner. Any way of doing that? Maybe a change to the html code?

Also, in general are there any tutorials on how to use the website builder so I can update my GDI site?  I have been away for awhile and it has changed. I used to know how to use it.

Tom

Hi Deborah, I am trying to put the flash banner on my website.  I managed to copy and pasted the link while editing, my question then:  after pasting, do you right away click ok? or you need to wait for that link to disappear and see the image right there before clicking ok, save and publish?

Would it be easier to copy and paste the gif instead of the flash?  Maybe I should try it.

Thanks for anyone who can help  :-*

Hi Susan,

Go to the banner section.
Scroll down to Gif banners - right click on the banner you would like to use - click on properties - copy the  adress Url. Now you have the Banner url.
You can do the same with any picture.

All the best
Stefan

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Now I know how to do it!!
Cheers Michelle.
