Title: Don't Give Up
Post by: SeanG on September 15, 2006, 02:20:46 AM
Hello. I just wanted to say that I have been a member with GDI for a little time now. I also wanted to say that I am having a lot fun watching my business grow.

I'd like to give some inspriration to new members or members that are having a hard time with this business. The main thing is to not get frustrated and give up. If you are not having any success right now, just keep learning as much as can. I hate to see people give up when this business cost so little. When people ask me how much this business cost, I tell them, "It's cheaper than bottled water." That is, if you buy at least 10 bottles every month out of vending machines. The only difference is that bottled water won't allow you to earn commissions like GDI.  Believe it or not, I have run into many people who think that $10 is too much for this business.  I just tell them, "If you can't afford $10 a month, then you won't succeed at any business if that's your attitude." Stay away from people who make sarcastic remarks about your business. These people fail to see the potential of this system and their remarks can weigh on you if you allow it.

When you get frustrated, just go to the leaderboards. Remember, those people were brought into this system just as you were. Just imagine having a member in your top level who recruits 25 to 50 members a week. Once you get a member like that, you can sit back and watch the commissions roll in or you can continue to search for those type of people to help build your business even more. A lot of you probably have uplines who are not responsive. That is a shame. Just keep in mind that they may not be responsive because they may have someone in their downline who is building it for them. Don't be afraid to advertise. Some people look at advertisement as an expense and not an investment. I don't know about you, but I would be willing to pay top dollar to have some of the big hitters on the leaderboards in my downline. If you don't advertise or promote your business, you don't stand a chance to receive anything.

Just keep on learning and eventually, you will start earning. All of the support that you need can be found right here in this forum. There is no one way to succeed in this business, you just have to find your niche. Remember, you don't have to do what the next man does in order to be successful.  Some people are good at making cold calls. Some people have a gift of gab. There are also people who can make things happen just by sitting at their computer. The choice is yours, but whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP!

Thanks for the advice and I was ready to give up. This is the second time I have joined and promised myself this time would be better. Well, it hasn't been. I'm stuck, i've done advertising and left business cards at work but to no avail. I need some help as I feel like a failure when this should be so easy to sell.

Thanks.  Tina K

I'm glad that you didn't give up. It's so cheap to be a member, I don't even look at the membership as an expense. I can easily spend my money on a lot of garbage that doesn't matter. It comes to about 33 cents a day. It doesn't get any better than that. There are many tools out here to promote GDI., but the most important tool of all is your mindset. A poor mindset will not leave any room for growth in this business.

I don't do buisness cards that much, but from what I hear, they can be very affective. Don't juts leave your business cards at work, leave them at gas stations, fast food restaurants, grocery stores etc. It good to market online and offline. The rule of thumb that I use is this: you must make sure that you bring people in the same way you came in. If you found GDI on Google, it would be silly to rule Google out as an effective way to recruit people. The only reason that you are not having any luck is becuase your links are not spread out enough yet.

Get those links out there and it will come.

hi guys,

i'm very new to GDI, just joined today and just reading around and i must say i agree with you sean, you do not know what you can do until u try and not give up.... i just want to tell a litte story now, hope you guys dont mind... i used to give up all time a couple of years ago after i had an operation (hernia operation) i couldnt exercise or lift any heavy stuff so i got chubby (thats what people said) but i knew i was fat and guess what the truth came out later.... ok back to the story after constantly not doing anything about the weight problem i became lazier and lazier but however one day i just had enough of myself so i went to my local park and ran and ran and ran, from then it became a daily routine and i lost around 10 - 15 kg in a month!!!! that was about 1 yr ago now i'm at a gym doing body building  ;D... so guys dont give up on the things you want! it might take some time, but if you try it will happen, if you dont u close every possible doors to reaching your destination.

all the best!

I'm sorry, I wish I felt the same as you Sean. I've been here a week now, and have had NO LUCK. I'm doing all I can do at this point, I've even started a Myspace account promoting this, but it seems irrelevant. People don't seem to be interested. I can't afford to pay money for cold leads, I’m bad at advertising on a personal basis, and it seems like a pointless pursuit and a waste of $10. I'm trying, but at this point, giving up would seem like the best option.

Hi Antoine,

As far as I understood it, you are with GDI only one week?

It takes time to find which advertising is the best for you
and it takes time to build your business.

If you quit, you will miss a great opportunity.

Then here is a quick thought for you. I am in an Independent Affiliate Program that pays $1.00 per month for a Paying Referral. Doesn't sound like much does it, only $12.00 a year. Let's take this further, let's say I only refer a total of 10, not an improbable number, over the next 12 months. Still not very impressive at $10.00 a month, but it is money i didn't have before. Now if this was as far as it went it'd be quite depressing, but thanks to the program i am in it goes on for 5 levels. Now we can get somewhere, if each of the 10 people you referred refer 10 and those 10 refer 10 and so on to the 5th level your income by the end of your first year would be $111,110.00 per month. Now is that a number to inspire Happy Thoughts?

Now I have been having unhappy thoughts till i had this one, so I decided to share it, I hope it helps you to have Happy Thoughts too.

If you have any Happy Thoughts you would like to share with me, or questions about mine, you can PM me. Thanks for your time, and I wish you Success.... William Lang

I posted this in a blog... thought i'd share... wasn't sure where to post it though :-[

Great advice Sean! I was one who gave up all the time. I have decided to do two things this time around. Commit and Focus! What people do is make this too hard. I have magnetic signs on my truck and people look at them all the time so I know they are getting responses. I am ordering business cards ASAP. They are beautiful cards. I am getting some DVD's as well. I will also post flyers where allowed! I am going to stick with this for a year minimum and see what happens.

Hello ;D

Well, I just finished making my Thank you letter to send to my "team", if I ever get one...LOL  And I also made a following letter to send with links that might be of help to them (since my upline is basically nonexistant to me).  I want to be a better sponcer than I have!  Been busy here reading, sending invites, sending followups, posting ads, making flyers, making business cards, distributing them all over town.  Whew! ::)  I am only in this business for a little over a week now, no prospects, no takers, had a day or two of being discouraged.  But I decided this morning to get orgainzed and get ready just in case I do get someone in my downline!   ;) I am not ready to give up yet!!  At least today..LOL  I want to give this a good chance before I throw in the towel.  I guess I can afford to stick this our several months.  I spend probably more than $10 a month in snacks that are bad for me... :o

So Hang in there everyone!

Just wanted to add my 2cents here...

Sure, I have another website that costs me about the same as my .WS site, but has many more features and tools to use than the website that I have here with GDI.   On the other hand, my .com website doesn't offer me any other way of generating an income, outside of the actual business that I have the .com website for.   GDI DOES!   So, since I'm convinced that more and more people are looking or will be looking for their own personalized website (for whatever their reason), to me, it just plain makes much more sense (and dollars, hehehe) to go with one from GDI.

I just started, and actually haven't even quite finished my 7-day trial yet, but, I do not at this time see any reason for me to quit, and give up on what I see as a virtually unlimited potential.
My upline ????   Where ::)?   Hmmm, nope, haven't heard from them yet, and really don't expect, nor need to.   To be quite honest, if my upline isn't worried about me, then I'm not worried about them.   Now once I do grow my downline, I WILL BE here for them, as obviously, THEY are the ones who will make my job easier, with the addition of each and every individual added Member.  One thing that I keep in mind is, that once my downline has 10 Members, then my website actually pays for itself, and costs me nothing.   OK, so each Member in the downline is only $1 per month ... but again, with 10 of those, that's the costs of my .WS website.
Now, after that, each new Member anywhere in my downline is an additional dollar.   Hey, dollars add up much more quickly than pennies... 100 times faster  ;D
I very much appreciate the PM's and emails that I've received already (although none from my upline yet ::) ) and I just want You all to know that I am reading them, and although I may not have answered You directly yet, please understand that I am currently studying and trying to learn this whole system, all the ins & outs, tricks of the trade, etc., etc., etc.
Please do not stop sending me ideas and suggestions, as I for one DO very much appreciate ALL of the help that I can get, here in my newest venture. 8)

Real life stories:

I got into network marketing through Ed and Phil, two friends of mine.  Ed had signed up with one company, and Phil with another.  At three years into each program, each of them was seeing small, very small, monthly income.  Somewhere around the three year mark, each began to see a steady increase in their downlines at all levels.

This is sometimes called the "tipover point", by the way.

By the end of the fourth year, each of these people, Ed and Phil, were receiving monthly checks (I saw them) of over $100,000.

Let me see, $100,000 x 12 = $1,200,000.00 per year.

Kinda makes them millionaires, right?  I know it's not officially a million in assets or cash, but most was in residual income, and that's close enough for me.

I tried both their programs and made a few bucks and dropped out.  I signed back up for one a few years later, made a few bucks, and dropped out.

In 2000, I signed up for a direct sales company with a product I really believed in, after taking a look at Phil and Ed's successes again.  I also read every book and article I could find on success in network marketing and sales.

This time I knew what to do.  Although I was not building a downline and the commissions were relatively small, in four years, I reached a personal annual income of just over $100,000.00 from this one program alone.

So, what did I learn from Phil and Ed?

Neither was an extraordinary person.  Neither was creative enough to come up with their own materials, so they just used what their companies provided...mainly brochures.  Neither took out ads or did much in the way of training their downlines other than telling them to do what they did.

What did they do?

They handed a brochure to everyone they met, even if they did not have a chance to make a presentation...for three years, and that's what they told their downlines to do.

Okay, I did not have a chance to build a downline with the product I was selling, so my income was proportionately smaller, but I succeeded online the same way they succeeded in person.  I built webpages, made entries in forums, linked my webpages, wrote articles, placed ads...almost every day for three years.  As I say, I was gradually making more and more money, but in the fourth year, I made my tip-over point, and have not looked back.

I saw an opportunity in GDI to do much the same thing, but this time with a downline.

Check with me in four years.

Don

i just wanted to mention that if anyone hasn't heard from there upline yet, there could be many reasons including...they expected a free ride (bad thing) or they just joined for the website/hosting and aren't building the business (OK thing).  There is one option you can try that might solve your problems and its worth a try.  Go to your members area....click on upline and you will see the e-mail addresses 5 levels up.  e-mail each of them,(bypassing the first one that didn't contact you if you want) tell them your situation. ask if they are building the business, do they have a sucessful system and will they mentor you.  One of them might care and not know you were hung out to dry by your direct sponser.        this being said...nothing ventured nothing gained  and at worst you still have the forum.   By the way, I'm a newbie thats having worse problems than this with my upline....but I am creatively solving my situation and you can too!!!!   This is not a get rich quick scheme, it is a business and has to be built on a solid foundation.  Rome was not built in a day.

By the way the majority of the people on this forum are here to help you and have your best interest at heart...but due your due diligence and realize there are always a couple bad apples that will offer help in a private e-mail that will just try to sell you some other business or solution.   I have had this happen...these people will never have true success with GDI.  After all do you think you could get married and build a perfect relationship with your wife....all the while going out and marrying other wives and trying to have a perfect relationship with them also.    This is my two cents  :)   Richard

I would definitely say to never quit this business.  First and foremost it only costs $10/month which is less than going to one single movie with your family.  Secondly it only takes 10 people to pay for itself and you dont even have to get all 10.  If you only got two and each of those got only 1 your .ws business is paid for.  And finding 2 people is simple :-)

I would also say if anyone is having issues with sponsoring there are many "systems" out there that will teach you for free how to advertise.  They are fairly easy to find :-)

To Your Continued Success,
Dean L Leverett

hi Every one

I am a newbie at GDI (2weeks) so as you can see I have passed my free tial and I am now building my GDI "Business".
It is quite dis heartening for me to read people say I have been doing this for a week and I am thinking of quitting,

Do you who say this really think that McDonalds sold over 1 million hamburgers in their first year?? by the way they do that + more in a day now Globally.

The best person to look at is Henry Ford, People were telling him no one will ever want a horse less cart your crazy, have a look in your driveway now and tell me whats there, it wont be a t model ford (or Maybe You Do own one) but it will be a derivetive of one

I was in other programs that cost alot more than $10 per month, so what I did when I heard abbout GDI and the opportunity here I went through the programs that were seriously not working for me got rid of them and now have 1 whole YEAR worth of GDI membership money from 1 Month of other progam membership money, plus some for advertising, proiritize.

Here is My Definition of   IMPossible
Imagination + Motivation = Possible  Therefor  Everything is (I aM) Possible

If any one needs inspiration I suggest they read Napolean Hill's "Think and Grow Rich"

till next time I hope this helps

I have been in GDI for over 2 years now.  In the beginning I was soo GUNG HO.....then I LOST MY FOCUS!  I got involved in soo many other things, tried starting my own things......THREW TONS of MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN.....all the while I had the BEST and EASIEST OPPORTUNITY to make a RESIDUAL INCOME sitting right in front of me!  How STUPID can a person be?

I have been receiving a small check every single month, and it is GREAT.  It would be soo much bigger if I wouldn't have LOST my FOCUS and got drowned in everything else out there.  NOTHING COMPARES to GDI!

The Product
The Price
The Opportunity

You can't go wrong!

DON'T EVER GIVE UP ON GDI!  It is YOUR OWN GOLDMINE - if you let it be!

I am finally getting on track this year and KEEPING MY FOCUS!

There was a post that I read about reading the Book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.....I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT!

You can find it online many places or you can even find it in your local library.  I am currently working on a revised edition of it.  When I am done, if anyone would like a copy, just PM me and I will get you a copy.  I am not sure how much longer it will take me.....a couple of weeks I think!

Anyways......I am GRATEFUL for the OPPORTUNITY that we have with GDI!

NEVER GIVE UP!

A TIP - Make a SIMPLE BLACK AND WHITE FLYER, Make 100 Copies a week and HAND THEM OUT!  Don't let them sit there and collect dust, like I have!  It is time to get off of our BUTTS and do something about it!

If you want it BAD ENOUGH - You will get it!  Like in "Think and Grow Rich" it says - YOU HAVE TO HAVE A STRONG DESIRE - The NUMBER 1 KEY INGREDIENT TO SUCCESS!

WE CAN DO THIS!

To your success,

Rebecca

Hi There,

That's about right. I've been in business in the off-line world and it is no different. You have to work hard to marketing and selling, finding prospects who are interested in what it is you have to offer and then close and follow up on these prospects.

If you think you are not selling here at GDI then you need to think again. We are continously selling oursevles all day, everyday, and GDI as in any other business, we are selling. E.G. "It only costs $10.00 per month." a classic sales pitch.

A good ebook that I can recommend on this is the 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing by Ann Sieg. I'd leave a link but it is not allowed ;)

As Internet Marketers, it' says it all right there--Marketers. Promote, promote, and then promote some more. THere is no shortage of prospects out there.

To our success.  8)

Hello,
I noticed that people make marketing more difficult than what it really is. I always ask people a simple question . How did you find out about GDI and why did you decided to joined? In other words, whatever the person who sponsored you did, it worked ,so just follow what your sponsor did. I usually buy 100 leads per month and I mail my business cards with a small note telling them that GDI is an excellent business and to go to the website to watch the movie. I only send 25 notes with my business cards every week and it works. In any kind of business, you have to spend some money ,so we need to remove the free lunch mentally and promote, promote, promote.

Hello to all of you who want to Have your business,  8)

Sometimes we need to step back an take a real good look at what we
are doing, and if what we are really doing is our beat. Most of the time
we find that we are not giving it our best. Anything short of our best
is just what we have to work for.  ;D

The will to live, is almost, the way you must feel about your business.
Think of it like a torch that burns bright because your spirit is what
gives it life. It will happen for you. Are you ready to run or walk the
distance to have your dream? Keep the faith.  ;)

Take the bull by the horns and sling him to the side.  >:(

The path ahead is for you to take. Start promoting like crazy. Everywhere you can.
The free sites get them as many as you can. They do help to get you exposure.  8)

Now when you are ready get some leads from GDI.
You should have experience on promoting your free leads.

When you are able to pay for them you should be a pro on promoting
them. You can do it.

Remember when you feel that little seed of doubt way back in your
soul. It’s only the enemy trying to defeat you because you are getting
nearer to your goal. Keep your head up high and push forward.

Well as they say you can lead a horse to water, but, you can't make him drink.  But if you can get a lot of horses to the trough maybe some of them will take a drink.  Try to get as much traffic to your site as you can.  Try using the free traffic exchanges.  If you're interested, I can give the links to the ones I use.    They are my referral links.  If you do not wish to be one of my referrals, I will still give you the links, I know how frustrating it can be.  There are also posts in the forum about getting started and they also list other resources for getting traffic to your sites.  Just let me know.  Have you signed up for the GDI Teambuilder, alot of good info there as well.

Hello all,

I've been reading the posts about never giving up and I couldn't agree more!  Statistics show that 98% of network marketers fail and that's only because they give up.  Look, GDI is $10 per month (33cents per day) Now is that going to put you out on the street?  I didn't think so...

I will say that it takes time to build a good down line so stick with it, all it takes is one or two really good members and your downline will take off.

Stick with it!
Tonya

;)Well I will add to this great Thread. Hopefully this makes it into reply since I have never seen any of mine make it in.
I have been in for about 3 weeks. My upline sponsor was a newbe too. I have been in that company we have all heard of called Amway. I was in it 3 different times. I love the positive thinkers in that network marketing group. I said this time I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!! I just ordered business cards today and started putting fliers everywhere. Friends and family are no help, Except my parents which just signed up under me. I don't care how much I get told NO. Just move on to the next one!!!
So folks that is my GDI story for now.

Thanks for your time
Dave

Guys, I wanna thank each of you for the confidence that I am feeling right now. I only signed up yesterday, haven't set up my website as yet, haven't tried to sell a word to anyone as yet. Based upon what I am hearing I am not alone in this fight to success and this is encouraging.
Antoine, I really think that you have to be honest with this business, 1 week is not enough time to call it quit. In fact quitting should not be in anyones vocabulary. I understand that there is enugh resources at GDI website to help us.
I treid couple businesses in the past and I quit. It cost me a lot more money than what I will spend for GDI yet I still quit. This year 2009 I refuse to be a quitter, I am a winner. I will succeed in this business because I want to do something for myself. I am working for people right now and there is no Guarantee I will retire with anything. If you wait on a 9 - 5 job to retire well you are living in the past!! those days are over. Success depends on us, i.e you and I!!
Be Strong, and thanks again guys!!

I  agree with you 100% Lewis_P!

For once in our lives, lets kick the word "Quitting" out of our vocablary, we all know GDI is one of the most cheapest online businesses to be involved in this day and age, and we can never go broke while building it.

The resources from GDI are all there to research and use to our fullest extent, we also have this wonderful, full of informative information forum to come and see other peoples tips and advice and also good links to other things we may need on our journey in establishing and getting our business running to a point, where every thing you've done has set your business up to drive as many people as possible to your GDI business links.

Find what avenues on the internet you would like to work with to promote your links, weather it be traffic exchanges, PPC, free ad classified places, in other forums you may be involved in, but as part of your signature, not spamming messages of an online business in a forum thats is strictly for gamers or something asking for tips or cheats of that specific topic. Do "BE AWARE" of that!!!.

But as part of your signature in forums a lot of forum places will accept that, I am part of a lot of forums and actually use a few GDI banners GDI has given us to promote, so I just use the link to that GDI banner in my signature. It is not regarded as spamming because the actuall message body it's self does relate to that forum. So as a person reads your message and see's your signature below that message with your GDI banner, it is actually up to the individual weather they want to click the banner or not. FREE WILL! :).

But what I do love is Networking places, like windows live, facebook, bebo, myspace, myyearbook, directmatches, yuwie...etc, etc, etc. These networking places you are allowed to promote what ever you like, online businesses included. Another great way of promoting your GDI links.

As regards to fliers, yeah why not give it a go, I have and have got a few signed up that way. But if you can get a company to create like 5000 fliers for you on cheap paper, not anything flashy looking as long as it explains a bit about GDI and has your own GDI link on it and is cheap to make "Do It", try and spot someone maybe delivering a local paper in your area and other areas and ask them how much it will cost to slip a flier in every paper they deliver, that is a good way, also car's at shoping malls, get your kids and thier friends together, and slip a flier under every car window wiper...ohh and do give the kids something for thier efforts :).

OK the morale of it all is, promoting your GDI links is only limited to your own imagination.

So "Never Quit" and "Keep Building"

Hi GDI Members,
I am 58 years old, married 39 years, we have 3 sons, 2 daughters and 9 grandchildren. 2 live with us, one is legally blind and the other who is 4 is just a pain in the butt and I am also disabled. Giving up is not an option with us. Since Joining GDI which I must say is the best thing since sliced bread as it cannot be beat for the price, content and support I can't believe the amount of people ready to quit. To all of you that say you cant get people in your down-line, I say "Bull" it is only because you don't know how. Here are a few suggestions to get you going.
1. Call your up-line group, you have 5 of them.
2. Check out the GDI discussion boards, that's what they are for.
3. Advertise online for free, just type in "Free online Advertising Sites" in your search, you will be amazed
    at how many there are.
4. Write a blog on "Blogger.com" it's free
5. Next, set-up a Squidoo page referencing your blog to get a higher ranking, "Squidoo.com" also free.
6. Then you have your Forum sites, E-zine articles.
The list goes on and on but the main point is exposure, get out and start doing, remember, this is a great
opportunity but you have to put in a little work to make it work.
Good luck to all of you.

What a great attitude...you will generate the end result.
I am from Aus, 65 and have the same positive attitude.
GDI works if you make it work.
All the best from downunder.

Hi to everyone!

There are some great books and cd's out there for motivational and positive thinking. These are fantastic. I have been involved in networking for a while now and am very involved with the way in which we succeed or fail. Everything is created in your thoughts first before action is applied. Have you ever heard of the saying, "if you think you can, or you think you cant, you are right". It is difficult to be positive all of the time but that is what networking is all about, somebody to lean on and feed off. So many negative people around who are scared of failure, they would rather not do something in the first place and this way they feel safe. But this is ok, dont waste energy to worry of what they might think. Never turn your back on them, as they one day may need you. These people swim with the in crowd. To be successful in this world you need to hold your head up high and swim the other way, sure it is going to be against the tide but keep swimming and soon enough you will get a break. Help enough other people to learn to do the same and you will be rewarded. Dont think what you can get from this, think who can you help to get from this and yours will come. You see, there are plenty of people who think just like us who are looking for something just like this, we just need to be patient and get ready.

I hope this helps. Keep swimming my friends  :)

I am trying here but honest to God...people are really not in to GDI like I thought! My down line keeps getting smaller! And the number of people in the orange...well, let's just say- quite a few inactives!!! So here's my take!  There just isn't enough money in this unless you have money to put into it!!! Any one who says anything different is not being honest!!

I would like some advice as to what (if anything) I can do to contact the individuals who come to my site daily and don't take the leap of faith to join!  Everyday I check my hit list and see the same IP addresses, yet I don't know how (or if I can) to respond to them to offer any assistance in their decision to try the "test drive".

Advice?

Thanks!
Donna

Reading this book will not get people to sign up!!! ost people do not have the vision we have!!!

Reading this book helped me and many others i know. I just hope your comment isn't contradicting yourself, I mean your vision and all that. One step at a time is sometimes all is needed. I simply suggested a great tool to help one step but obviously it would be much faster if we all apply your fast sign up technique. Somebody was looking for a bit of support not anything negative. Shame on you  :-\

Make sure you get and read that book Dave. It will help you with many of parts of your life.

And no, i'm not Jeff Keller  :D

How is everybody doing. I just started today and as I read some of these post im surprise at how hard it is to sign people up I guess I am about to find out in a minute. With the economy being so bad you would think people would jump on quickly but maybe not. Reguardless I can't give up cause its my only option it just ain't any jobs out here to get.
