Just an idea - using a PS after a signature is another way of adding a message to get your prospect hooked.

No, that is the only one that I use for now!  I normally change them up from time to time.  That one just happens to be my most current sig file!

I have about 10 different sig files that I use depending on who I'm sending to, but this one is my default that points to my GDI movie.  Between the simple line I use that says, "I can relax...FINALLY" and then using some sort of catchy URL, I believe that it works pretty good at playing on the curiousity factor


No more worrying about job security for me.  Finally.
URL here  (an example might be "APlanToBeFree," or "FiringMyBoss" in the URL)


Another one I have fun with and I also believe it draws a lot of curiosity seekers is this one.

A couple of questions:

1. What sort of hit and conversion rates have you folks been getting with your sigs?  That would be hits/e-mail delivery and signups/hit.

2. Do any of you have sigs that would be tolerated for a consultant, i.e. ME, at a client site?  I think the "hate your job?" angle would be frowned upon by the client company.

Have you ever wondered what a signature file is?  Have you ever received an email and what would normally be a PS at the end of the file was done a little bit differently and it "Grabbed" your attention, in fact so much so that you clicked on the link that was shown?

What is a Sig File?

A Sig file (also known as signature file) is a short snipet of text at the end of emails that adds extra information about you, your product or service.  Or it could just be a quotation.  Generally speaking a sig should only contain between 2 and 6 lines of text.  If you exceed 6 lines, in most cases, the recipient of the email will lose interest in what you are trying to get across.

Why Use A Sig?

Contains your contact information, increases your site traffic and is a FREE and less obvisous way to market and brand yourself, along with your products & services.

What should be in a sig file?

Your name
Name of your company or product
Contact information (phone, fax, email)
Domain name or URL (make certain that you place http://www.yourdomain.ws so that your email program creates a hyperlink.   That is very important because if the url is not clickable, guess what?  In most cases, no one WILL visit your website).

How to Setup a Sig

Most email programs (including web-based) offer the option of setting up your own email signature. MS Outlook Express & MS Outlook, for example, allows you to create signatures and choose a 'default' setting. (If you want your signature to be automatically attached, make sure that the default option has been selected.) Once set up, your signature will be attached to outgoing messages. 

Personally, every email that leaves my PC has my signature at the end of the message, even if it's a joke that people forward to me.  If you've heard of viral marketing, you'll understand that concept.  Hope this little bit of information helps you with your marketing efforts...to your continued success!

I do a bit of promoting on Google - using theiir Adwords and I think they
may be able to teach us something here for our Signature file.

In Google they say look at your company's  landing page and try to use
something in your advert copy that is from your landing page. Since your
sig file is an advert, why not adopt a similar approach.

sigs is short for signature, this usually goes underneath forum posts (see mine below) or in the emails that you send out.
SIgnatures are effective and free method to get people to see your GDI opportunity, try it!
