Title: Hit Log question
Post by: BillKelly on September 28, 2006, 01:33:57 PM
Hello all,

Been a member for about 2 weeks - have two sign up's so far (woohoo!) and two more on the way! This is good stuff.

My question: Does the hitlog system only count hits to your "main" affiliate site (ie. www.wedsite/username.ws)?
I've been promoting that site as well as my direct site to the shorter car movie and my direct site to the full blown longer movie.
While keeping track of all my advertising it seems to me that only the main aff. site is being tracked.

  Any insights?

Thanks!
Bill Kelly

Hi a newbie myself but i think when your user name goe's in to any of these pages they all go though the hit logs.                         try FAQ  JMURRAY IRELAND GOODLUCK ;D

As far as I can work out, Bill, this is correct.

The hit counter does only count hits to www.website.ws/<username>.  I am unsure if this default can be changed, tho../??

Jason

Thanks for the reply,

It'd be great if we could a) get all hits to all pages tracked and b) possibly a different hit log for each aff page.  I've been ready everything I can find online re: online marketing and networking and everything I read mentions to really track each and every ad campaign. Maybe something we can work on!

Just out of curiosity - what traffic exchanges and online marketing areas are you having the most luck with?

Thanks again for the replies,

Bill

I suggest everyone use a tracking system to track your hits. So you can see where your hits are coming from.
You save alot of time this way.

Title: Urgent HELP needed!! How Do You Analyize the HIT LOG Data???
Post by: RogerBell on April 23, 2007, 10:38:03 AM
Hi This is Roger Bell a newbie of just a couple of days. I have had about 14 hits to my site, thus far, and am very excited. However I just cant figure out how to analyize Hit Log the data. I can see the I.P. Addresses on the Hit Log list on all of the hits and some unreadable (to me) googlegook on other hits.  So my main question is: how do I know who these people are? How can I find out their details like email address and phone number etc that they would have had to input to view the movie. I'm keenAS and want to follow up with emails and phone calls whenever possible. Can anyone explain to me how I can access this data....the names and email address of my hits. Or (maybe) does Head Quarters forward this vital info on to me in due course. Urgent help is needed on this please if there is anyone. Unfortunately my upline are not contactable. I need and want to contact my "Hits" asap before they go cold, if you know what I mean. Thanks in advance for any info on this. Cheers: Roger Bell

A hit is nothing more than a hit.  All that it means is someone visited your GDI replicated website.  GDI does not have any information on your visitor.

The only way to anaylze a hit to your GDI website is to look at the IP address and trace the location.  You will not obtain any data other than city, state and country.  You cannot email or phone a visitor to your GDI repiicated website.

Think about this for a moment.  When you visit a website, such as Google.com.  Does Google contact you.  No, because they do not have your contact information.  All that they record is your IP address.  That's it.  Same with your GDI websites.

The only way that you can get a visitor's contact information is if they complete the form from your lead capture page, such as www.my.ws/YourUserName.  Then and only then can you contact someone.

Hope I was able to point you and a few others in the right direction on this topic.

I hear what you are saying Frank. And thank you very much. Maybe being such a "newbie" newbie I am missing something. I thought that for someone to view the movie on my replicated site they had to fill out a ticket - like I originally did -. So if they fill out a ticket ie they give their First Name, last name and email address. What happens to that data ?? Are you telling me that Head Office does not collect this info and pass it on to me, or at least make it accessable to me. Or maybe what you are telling me is that the 14 plus "Hits" I have had have just gone to the site BUT NOT bothered to get a ticket or view the movie?  The bottom line for me is that I want to be able to follow up with phone calls and/or emails anyone who gave their details and viewed the movie. So when this happens, how do I get this vital infomation? Thanks Frank I hope you can help me out on this one. Cheers; Roger Bell

Place your personal contact information in the form to see what happens.  I can explain it, but choose not to.  You will understand the system better if you place your contact info in the form.

I'm in about 2 weeks as well and I have signed up 18 personally and about 4 more from those people so far. I only use the longer video freedom.ws/username/show_dvd
I like when the dvd plays automatically.
I have only looked at my hitlog 1 or 2 times.
I forwarded my domain to the freedom.ws site. I know where my people come from when I see their city.

The system is automated GDI will send them emails and a recorded phone call , And all this is done on your behalf, then if no response from them a real person will contact them from GDI ,
this system is amazing.
If they sign up they will sign under you of course . my wife put in her info and we watched to see what happens.

Hi again Frank. I feel so bl----dy stupid at times. I have never used a Forum previously. So once again i am completely at a loss as to what you are asking me to do. You have asked me to put my name/details on or in the "Form". What form??? Where is the Form?? To which form are you referring Frank. I am sorry for my ignorance and in 12 months we will share a beer and a laugh about this when I meet you at the next international convention. But right now you are talking "Chinese" to me. I have no idea what this form is you are talking about. Do you maybe mean where I am typing now??  i will wait for your next reply and thank you kindly for your patience and understanding. By the way I sell Reggae Records on eBay and have a big range. i see by your "hair style" that you are a Bob Marley Fan (maybe??). After clarification is over I would love to send you a couple of Reggae LP's if you would like that. Just let me know. Thanks and I await your kind reply. Best from: Roger Bell

Hi Roger,

The "FORM" is the ticket which you had filled in previously to watch the movie. You can  see it here:
http://www.website.ws/rogerbell#ticket

The link above points to your affiliate url. Try filling up the form with another valid email.
After that check the email that you have registered with GDI, you should see a notification sent to you.

The hit logs only indicate that your page has been viewed, you will only be notified about the visitor if they choose to fill in the form.
If you want to follow through with your visitors through phone ( or any other ways besides email), you will need to put your own customised form to collect those data.

Hope that helps.  :)

Melissa

Thanks heaps for that info Melissa. Now because I like and need to have things clarified and make sure I am understanding correctly. What you have suggested I do Melissa is to fill out "TheForm" - I now know what the Form is ! :-)  -  And i will fill this out with (say) a PenName like Jimmy J Ding ( not my real name!) and a phone number of my brother AND use one of my other valid email addresses - not my normal email address registered with GDI.  So i fill in the detail, like I described, to test the GDI System and see how it works. Then sit back and watch the movie ( i love it - it my favourite movie). And what you are saying is that in 24 hours or so I should get a message from GDI that a Mr jimmy J Ding recently watched my movie.

Have I got this all correct Melissa ??   And if so can I just clarify one point: Will the detail about Jimmy J Ding be emailed to my email address on file with GDI or will the info be dispalayed somwhere in my GDI Back Office, and if so where??   By the way since last time I posted I now have one SignUp - 1 in my downline. And the strange thing is I never got any notification of this whatsoever. Suddenly I had a downline. And of course all the detals of my downline guy is there. I have phone him, congratulated him on his decision and him I will hold his hand all the way to success. Ya gotta laugh Melissa. Talk about the blind leading the blind :-).   Well I know a lot more than my downline guy does and every day in every way I am learning more and more about GDI. Much thanks to kind, lovely folk like you Melissa. Thanks again and best always from: Roger Bell

Title: Hit Logs
Post by: Mia Hart on August 26, 2007, 02:52:30 PM
Hi,

I just joined GDI a month ago and have a question on the hit log counter for my affiliate URL.  My domain name is significantly different than my affiliate URL; however I parked my domain name with GDI instead of building my own site.  This "parking" takes a person who uses my domain name to the show_dvd web page so they get the movie right away.  The problem is, the hit log is only counting those people that hit my affiliate URL which does not show the movie.

For example:
DomainName.ws points users to www.freedom.ws/affiliatename/show_dvd

The hit log is tracking my affiliate URL of www.freedom.ws/affiliatename only.  The only hits I am getting here is myself when I click on my affiliate URL.  I am not able to track anyone at all now.

Is there a way to change this in the members panel?  Had anyone else had this experience.  I would prefer to send people to Mydomain.ws which changes to the movie because I feel that this .ws site shows the power of what GDI is all about, the opportunity to have your own company name or personal name as a top level domain.

Thanks,

Mia Hart

Never heard of it before but I did a search on it.  I found the reading quite interesting.  Apparently, listing an email on websites can lead to people harvesting that address.  The following site will give you more information.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-mail_address_harvesting

I think I speak for most of us here when I say that most of us are here because of the online streaming video.  It is way powerful.  It is just common sense.  We all need to have the power to track our successes with this page.

If you read this and agree with me, please reply and let's get this done.

The purpose of the hit log is:  It shows where your traffic or visitors are coming from.  That's it.  You cannot contact anyone that visits your website utilizing an IP address.  So basically if you are running several advertising campaigns, you can track the effectiveness of them.  Hit log is a simply a tracking resource that GDI provides to it's affiiates.

Hope that I answered your question.  To your success...

Frank

p.s.  If you have questions, conduct a search of the forum using the search field above.  In most cases, your question has already been answered in the past.  On top of that, you will have your answer much quicker than posting and waiting for a response from someone.

I also would like an answer, I have at the present, well over 400 hits to my hit logs, what are they being shown, do all receive the same movie, or do any of them get the movie, I am at a loss as to what the procedures are for visitors, what is the meaning of the "unique IP's", I know IP's, and unique, but what part do they play in our system, I am sure there are others who would like some of these questions resolved.

I have literally thousands of visitors waiting to come to my website, I would like to know when I will be able to contact them, and how will I know they have signed up.

Hi Everyone,

Following numbers show up in my hit counts but I am unclear as to what it means exactly in terms of actual visitors to my replicated site.  Can anyone tell me which number means real live views of my site?

Total Records: 162
Unique IP Addresses: 49

My Assumtion is the unique IP Addresses are real people viewing my site and not sure that the other number is.  Am I right?

Thanks for all your help and feedback.

The unique IP address means that unique computers. However it is possible to have more then 1 unique visitor from 1 computer because it may be a shared terminal.
So both the numbers show real live views, total records of 162 includes both unique and repeat visitors.

Hope this helps.
Cheers

Hey i Had the same problem as well,  I msged the support centre and was given a reply within 6 hours.. Apparently it will not track hits if you have put "Freedom.ws"  in your replicated site. you have to choose any other sites other than "Freedom.ws". ;)

following is the exact message i got from the support team ;D

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Good Morning Brandon,

The Hit Logs will only track  visits, or "hits", to your Affiliate URL
of http://website.ws/username. Your affiliate site is currently
directing to http://freedom.ws/index.dhtml?sponsor=username&chk=1 which
is not tracked in the Hot Logs.

To have your domain successfully tracked please login to your members
area select the "My Replicated Sites" button located on the left and
choose any of the options other then the Freedom.ws capture pages.

If you need additional help, please reply to this email making sure to

Hi D_Graham.

The hit logs only tell you how many people actually clicked through to the replicated "website.ws/(your affiliate name)"
If your website links to the "website.ws/(your affiliate name)" then it means that only three people who came to your website clicked through to your replicated site.

To track all/any site statistics go to Google and sign up for Google Analytics [it is free].
Google will give you a code snippet to place on your site which will track everything for you and give you in-depth information on where your visitors came from etc.

Hope this info helps,

Cheers,

Kitty.
