1  .WS Services / Showcase Your Website / Re: Share Your Website...Part 2 on: September 17, 2005, 12:30:11 PM
Just when I think I'm finally getting somewhere with my site I see what others have done and am flabbergasted! Some of you people are so smart!

Maybe someone could critique my site .... http://www.jaski.ws   .......  my grey matter and silver hair are giving me a lot of "senior moments" learning how to make a good (sticky?) site and trying to figure out why the font sizes are so odd when inputting text, but come up OK on the site.

Next I need to know the best way to promote it?

Kieron... excellent job with your site!

Welcome to GDI ... this place is fun and the forum is especially helpful.
My suggestion is to first put your website on forwarding: You can forward to either:

(1)  www.website.ws/yourname ... about 6 or 8 different sites rotate advertising the business opportunity
(2)  www.my.ws/yourname ....will forward them directly to just the flash movie
(3)  www.website.ws/yourname/hosting ...I just found this one today! Really good for telling people about the product (websites) with a little bit down the bottom about earning income

After you have set that up ... it can take overnight/24hours for a new site to show up... you can then go to SiteBuilder and play with that until you are happy. NOTE: If you hit PUBLISH you will automatically change what shows up on your site.... but you can always change it back if you wish.

When you are happy with what you have you can then "publish" the page or whole site. Changes are faster than the first time and are effective usually within about 5 minutes... sometimes a bit longer.

Keep watching the forums for lots of really good advice. Some of these guys and gals are really clever!

Hope this helps?
4  .WS Business / Marketing / Re: Need ideas for ads I want to place in papers on: September 05, 2005, 12:06:46 PM
Has no one ever placed ads in papers and shoppers yet? There's got to be some great ideas for ads amoung this huge group of members. Fess up! Share what worked for you. Share if it didn't work too. Maybe ads in papers is a bad idea. Heck I don't know. I'm new at this too! I just want to try anything and everything-especially things that won't cost a lot to do!! Grin
Thanks Guys,
Deborah H

I tried advertising in our main newspaper (small city) ... cost about $30AUD for 6 days... problem is people throw paper out every day. Papers also have rules about advertising MLM but GDI was OK as it is commission only. Results? NIL - but then it has been said you need to advertise consistently for any results... felt I couldn't afford it.. much better ways to spend money than newspaper advertising!
Am very impressed with the ideas I'm reading here!
Hope this helps?
5  .WS Services / WebSite Development / Re: Should we be allowed to have hidden pages with the new sitebuilder? on: September 04, 2005, 09:02:03 PM
Reasons?
BUSINESS
If using GDI website for my business I'd want hidden pages so I can put my wholesale prices and only give that particular link to wholesale customers - would be nice if I could keep changing the page NAME/access code so people can't abuse it. Currently the pages are simply numbered 1 to 10 so no way to do it.
FAMILIES
Hidden pages to show pics of kids  and private family news, so they can stay hidden from paedophiles and stalkers... BEST IDEA would be great to be able to change to page NAME/access code of the page for safety reasons.
6  .WS Services / WebSite Development / Re: Need help being able to view page on: September 02, 2005, 10:47:13 AM
OK - I added the poll at the top.   Grin Grin

I'm new to forums and learning how to access all this. How do I "vote" to see if we can have "hidden pages" again as to me this is an essential feature of any website. Yes, I agree if you have a family website it is the MAIN essential as you do not want private information "out there" especially when putting up pictures of children. Shocked

PS I finally put "Use Feedback form to email me" in the email address (properties/additional properties section) so that my email address doesn't show. I could have had a separate "Contact me" page and cloaked it there but running out of space..

I have had so many problems in the past arising from uncloaked email addresses on my website... endless spamming from people who change their email address every time or use other tricks to get past my spam filter. Angry

My experience has been that whatever YOU do, your prospect/downline will try to duplicate!

You need to ask yourself, are you teaching him to sit back and do NOTHING while YOU do the work for him? (Oooops! He will most likely expect YOU to do this for HIS downline also.) It sounds like you would be teaching him to be a lame duck and somehow still hoping he will be wildly successful?

If you TEACH him to be lame will he ever be able to do what you are doing? When and how will he get the skills and knowledge. Will HE spend energy and time helping his downline or will he be overwhelmed and quit?  My experience has been they find it too hard and quit. I like what Doug says... find people who WANT the business not those who NEED it! If I had heard that earlier it would have saved me years of heartache talking to, sponsoring and focussing on the wrong people.

My Dad taught me that "Sitting there just wishing, makes no person great! The Good Lord sends the fishing, but YOU must dig the bait!" I find opportunities rain down endlessly but each person has to be absolutely DETERMINED to look for them, and then study to be successful.

"The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S. Clason is a story about a slave who ended up fabulously wealthy. The same principles apply even today. It may inspire your prospect (and others)!

I've always been fascinated that the people who tell me they don't have enough money to invest in their own financial future, still seem to be able to afford all sorts of other things that they want.

It truly is a LOT MORE FUN and FINANCIALLY REWARDING working with people affluent enough to have no problem paying for anything they want. Mix only with POSITIVE people! Negative people will always try to drag you down.

GDI is so great because you don't have to spend much money promoting it. My thought is if they can't afford $10 a month for GDI, then they are definitely NOT what I am looking for. Honest, people spend more than that in a month on coffee, icecream, or the price of one movie.

Just look around in your local community for those who need what you have to offer.... businesses, clubs, groups, individuals. Get your prospects excited enough about GDI so they can't help themselves and want to tell everyone about GDI!

Those are just my thoughts...
Best of luck

Great to meet more Aussies. Love all the message boards and experiences shared. Makes things easier when you know what others have found worked best.

GDI is fantastic! Where else could you get domain, hosting, etc. with the potential to PAY you?

My thoughts.... fish where the fishing is best! The more people fishing in the same stream the fewer fish you can catch!

Years ago a rep tried to sell me his domain hosting service. He called about every two weeks. On his first call I was furious as I wasn't interested and he was wasting my time; his second call I was annoyed; his third I almost welcomed the chat; his fourth I began to see him as a friend; his fifth call?.... well he didn't call me back again..EVER!... and I had decided after his fourth call to tell him I was ready to go ahead next time he called!

He QUIT one call before success!

Hi Robert:

It is not so much what I say but more the frequency of my e-mails which is every two to three days.

Your e-mails should be short and they should create curiosity so your prospects actually see the flash
presentation.

I try to ask questions in my e-mails such as "What would you do with a couple extra hundred dollars a
month?  Would you take a weekend vacation? Then I point to the Flash presentation.

Let the e-mail message be about the prospect and not how great your opportunity is.  That is the
whole point of the Flash presentation, it does the talking for you.

I hope this helps,

Alan

Thanks Alan... I'm just starting in GDI and your advice is brilliant... it is ALWAYS about finding what the prospect wants and solving their problems.
