46  .WS/GDI Discussion / Questions & Issues / Re: Spam Policy on: August 14, 2005, 04:46:13 PM
When I was trying to pin down what was not working with my GDI email forwarding thingy. Never did figure that out-it just started to work again. Weird. But during that period I turned off my ISP spam program. I now get loads of spam. Much without even the disclaimer or opt out notice at the bottom. I wonder how they get away with all that.
But I still have the spam stopper not turned on. I am starting to get into the spam. Some of it is downright rude and others are tooo funny. I may be turning into a spam junkie here!!! Help before I turn into a spammer too!! Oh it hurts! But honestly it is way funny-my sides hurt from laughing at the spam I get!  Cheesy
I am sick-but I know it.

ps, SPAMing is bad guys--don't do it..you won't be laughing when you get caught if you are doing it. Cool

Well whatever you want to call it or define it as do not call it MLMing if you want to sell it. That's the point I was trying to make. I know full well what we do. And it's not a bad thing at all whether it's MLM or not. MLM has a very bad name and if there's a way to change that I hope it happens. The old Pyramid scemes made it that way and believe me they are still alive and well. I got sucked into one before GDI. This one didn't want a one time large sum, they wanted a continual large sum to do anything. PLUS they wanted to charge for everything on earth to run your business including making you by large amounts of their product each month at a locked in amount and even pay them to go to a marketing conference! It was endless!
This is $10.00 for something I wanted anyway-"a website"-plus everything that comes with it. If I choose to sell domains and hosting, hey, what's wrong with that? It's not bogus or a blackhole sucking all my finances away. It's $10.00 a month for my site. I can generate my own leads or buy opt in leads or find trial leads from companies. I am not required to have a fax machine though I do have one. I am not required to have an online credit card merchant account though I had one and am still trying get them off of me for 3 months now. GDI takes care of all the payments for me. I like that.
It takes a lot of work but there are many ways to market this and do well with GDI without spending a ton of money. I'm not trying to sugar coat this at all. I just dislike the terms MLM and others and do my best to avoid using them especially when marketing this. We are in fact selling a service, domain names and hosting for websites, with extras. At least that's what I am selling. I may not have been doing this myself for very long, but I grew up in it. My Mother was a huge marketing personality and training them was what she ultimately ended up doing. On a plane all the time flying around training at seminars. She retired at 42 yrs. old. This before there was online marketing, so I have to wonder how well she'd have done if she'd had the tools we have, being online etc.? I just want to be carefull how we define this and market it and try and get away from all the negatives that evolved before we came along. If we make this a positive business then it will be a positive business. It is now-we just have to keep it that way.
Ok-I wrote a freeking book. I'll go & let my dobermanns beat me up in a wresting game when the sun comes up.  Cool

Oh yes Amy,
You said it! Cover thy behinnie at all times. I keep all my CVS files of leads and emails and use a disclaimer at the bottom too with an opt out notice.
All this ( I admit I am a procrastinator on it) but all this gets put on CD's for safe keeping. I even print the CVS files out as I don't use an auto responder. There are online back up places you can also store things like this.
My computer is huge so I'm not worried about loading it up yet. But will eventually need to delete some of this stuff I know.
But I've lived long enough to learn you really need a webcam on your forhead at all times or you are toast!
Working with Domestic Violence Cases is what I do and it's a touchy legal area itself. Like everything else is I've found. People are just cranky all over these days and ready to lash out at anyone they pass. So be carefull and keep records of all your online business prospects. A spam charge can ruin you very fast. Shocked

Yes it is. I do the same thing so dont feel like a thief. If someone posts it unless they say dont use it and I like it I copy it and revamp it for future use. Thats a good one you made up. A keeper!
Thank You!

52  .WS Business / Marketing / I have a new list of MLM specific leads-?? on: August 10, 2005, 03:07:24 AM
I am not sure how I would format my email for them. They are confirmed MLMers. This type of marketing for me would seem to need a totally different approach. I have never tried to market to comfirmed MLMers before.
Any suggestions?? Cool

53  .WS/GDI Discussion / General Comments / Re: people quiting on: August 10, 2005, 03:01:18 AM
All of what Howard said plus I give them one of my sign ups. If none of that works then they dont want to work. I dont worry about the sign up I gave them because if they do quit they come back to me anyway. But in my other job-the one I intend to quit-I have seen way too many people that EXPECT that they do not have to do anything at all. That all will be given to them and they for some reason deserve it. It's very frustrating but very real. MANY people are out there like that. They saw a free service-they signed up for it and that's all they are going to do. So expect that these people will end up on your downline and do all that Howard stated but remember that that type pf person is REALLY out there. And there are a LOT of them. Undecided
There isnt a thing you can do to change them either. Sadly.

Kyra Asked:
I know I keep comming up with ideas, but doing this with my kids around me all the time... maybe I should use them to work for me? 2&4 years old... any ideas?

One: Make some T-Shirts for them with some kind of GDI info on them and as you go around with them doing your thing they will be seen and when someone comments about them strike up a short conversation with them and give them a business card. I can think of many things to have on the T-shirts.  Smiley
I am better with dobermanns than kids. Thinking of making a velcro GDI add for mine and having him wear his service tracking dog jacket with a GDI promo slapped on both sides of him.  Grin

Many of my members thank me for taking time to communicate and I thank them when I see new members take the bull by the horns and take a leadership role.

Communication. The bottom line.
Is that not the difference between failure and success in network marketing?

I do believe the have the bull by the horns there! I look forward to more of your posts. I think you have a lot of information that would help all of us in marketing GDI.
Thank You!

I think it would be OK. You might want to ask the spam guys at GDI though.
I did it a few times myself but I always saved their email in a folder with their info in case it came back on me. I only did it a few times as I wouldnt think theyd be interested if they are market something else. But ask GDI's spam guys and see what they say.

We need to find words for what we do that dont trigger MLM etc with bad thoughts from the past.
Actually it was said we are not an MLM company.
We are an affiliate program. We market domain names and all that come with it.
I myself think of this as "I am selling a very good product."
Something many poeple are looking for and cannot find on .com etc.
AND We DO offer a real product. It just happens to include the opportunity to market GDI too.
It's their choice to market GDI or not.
Many have signed up only wanting a domain name and hosting package. Then ended up after their friends saw their websites and learned of the EXTRAS GDI offers-the marketing-etc-they signed up several people without ever intending to market GDI!
We sell domain names and hosting packages with many extras. That's what I do. It has nothing to do with MLM's.
