Yup I agree with Howard! I did notice you have a few bitmaps. These are notoriously slow to load.

It's hard to realize what loads slow and what doesn't.  Thanks for that info Rod.   Grin

I was notified by GDI via email and via the newsletter this month that it is ILLEGAL to copy any portion of the main GDI site and put it on our sites.  I had the GDI ferarri movie on my site.  This is not allowed.  Sad  Therefore, I have redone my site yet again.  The other movie I had on the first page wasn't clear, so I did away with that also and now I just have audio there.  Let me know what you think.

Hi everyone. I had a brainstorm. I wanted to pass out christmas gifts to my friends but i wanted to give them a 30 day free membership to gdi. ($10)  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this. How would i be able to pay in advance for them ?  How could i make up a gift certificate ? etc. etc.

Just make up gift certificates on your computer.  When they want to use them, they need to come to you and have you help them set it up.  Put that on the certificate.  You give them the $10 to put into their account and they pay with their card for the website.

Thanks Rod.  I made the movie smaller again so it's clearer.  There is a link to view the movie at my site if it's not clear.  I'm not sure about the map.  It's supposed to work for people to post their locations on.

Could someone else check and see if it works?

I've made some changes to my website.  I am using bravenet for a variety of things.  Check it out www.mommyroxy.ws

While you are there, click on favorite links, scroll to the bottom and add your name, website and location to my world map!!  I love this thing.  I'd love to see where everyone is in relation to each other.  Let's get the whole world filled up!!

Give your friends and family a coupon for their own website for 3 months free and offer to help them set it up.  After 3 months they can decide to keep it or cancel.   Most people will keep it once they see what they can do with it.

I have three.  One for our construction company, one for my online store, one for my other online business which also advertises GDI.

It's really up to you and what you want to do.

Ashley,

It is illegal to put anything in or on a US Mail box that has not come directly from the post office.  You can put them in the paper boxes though.  Have you thought about posting flyers at local businesses, maybe leaving business cards on counters (with permission of course).

There are lots of posts here about great marketing ideas.

Good Luck.

Helen,

I checked your pic properties.  You are using yahoo to host your photos.  You to be signed in to your yahoo account to view the photos.  Therefore, YOU can see it on your pc, but WE can not because we do not have access to your yahoo account.  Does that make sense?  All I see is a square with a red x.

I recommend a PUBLIC photo hosting site.  Photobucket can host your pics and anyone with the correct url can view them.  That way you can put those photos on a website and they will be able to be viewed.

Email or IM me off list if you need further help.

That is absolutely AWESOME!!!  Not many sites grab me and drag me in, but this is definately one that does.  I didn't get blank pages, although it was black with the little loading box for a couple seconds at first, but that wasn't a problem.

Good job.  Give yourself a pat on the back.

WELCOME to GDI!!!!

OK - here goes.  Your photo first has to be HOSTED somewhere on the internet.  You can host it for free at www.photobucket.com or you can upload it to your GDI website somewhere and link to that.

After you upload your pic to photobucket, it will automatically generate a website address (url) to use for your picture in your profile.

If you upload it to your GDI site, right click on the pic and click on properties.  Then you will see a website address (url) you can use in your profile.

Right click on my pot of gold rainbow here and you will see that my pic is hosted by photobucket.  It's free and doesn't take up space in your GDI sitebuilder.

I love it.  But...is it really necessary to have the backround scrolling??  It made me dizzy and I had to close the page before I got to the bottom.  I think that because the backround repeats the pattern the scrolling may not be necessary.
