Hi, newbie here.  I have just finished phase I of my website.  Now I want to add some refinements to it such as a hitmeter and guestbook on the bottom because I have confusing data on who is viewing my website.  For instance what is the difference between 'Hosts' and 'Uniq Visitors' on the traffic page?  Who has a good, free, hitmeter?

If you want to critique my website goto:  www.godsroundup.ws

I think that it will be controversial and generate a lot of hits eventually.  I got about 400 visits since early Feb.

I did it. Thank Goodness. Please check me out. I invite everyone to take a look at my site. www.stevebast.ws

YES good job. Consider using the cellpadding and cellspacing attributes in your tables to get the text away from the borders as this will give a cleaner look.
20  .WS Services / WebSite Development / Re: how do i get people to download my ebooks from my GDI server? on: March 03, 2008, 01:05:28 AM
I got the files on my servers in a file name i created but what's next? can anybody help me with this, its stoping my cash flow.

You must have a file named index.htm or index.html or index.shtml to show your site and it must be in the html route directory. Then you site should work fine.

Hello,

I've recently updated one of my .ws websites and gave it a brand new look after about two years.  www.Team-Vision.ws  There are so many things you can do with your domains, whether it is a business, hobby, etc.  Just continue to work on your site, improving the content and look of them and you will have a successful presence on the Net.  Once you finish your websites, make sure you come to this forum and post your url so that everyone here on the GDI Forum can see your masterpiece or work of art.

Another suggestion or tip I would like to share with you is.  Share your completed websites with your family, friends and co-workers and you'll be surprised when one or even several of them ask you...where and how can they get their own website.  You simply direct them to your signup page.  It's that simple.

Frank

Great advice as always Smiley and cool new look!
25  .WS Services / WebSite Development / Re: Add-On's (More Storage, more characters in a content block, etc. on: February 25, 2008, 04:16:59 AM
I am needing to be able to tell my clients that they can have more space if they need it.  Is there a way to do it?

The other thing I noticed was that a content block is limited to 3000 characters which means that pasting a whole page is not a possibility.  So then you have to make a .pdf file, upload it and then the user has to click one more time (if you can get them to do this) to read your message.  Please look at http://www.sistersuzy.ws/TU to see what I might do.  My objective is to be a "project management tool"  Where a team of people can have their latest version of a document posted.  Then reviewers can add comments and the document manager can then compile the notes and publish a "final" version on this website or then send it where it is supposed to go.

To do this, the need for more storage comes into play.

Hi Yes you can get more strorage with the hosted option and there are many work arounds to the block size see the error 122 thread in this forum.

Hi - Keep going- You might want to look at your scrolling marquee which I suspect is causing the page to be wider than most screen resolutions.

Hi!

I have same problem, cannot place the Google meta tag in website builder, tried into meta description, no success, please help

Hi

In the description meta tag box
type the following after your description.

><meta name="verify-v1" content="FbiPSd0VuRkMvrjTd2XZfs9F8+h6pEKRdcaalUHHvZg=" /

So for example if the description was This is my new GDI site

The following should go in the description box

This is my new GDI site><meta name="verify-v1" content="FbiPSd0VuRkMvrjTd2XZfs9F8+h6pEKRdcaalUHHvZg=" /

I have the Guestbook link in my page-wb

but i am not getting any massages

The easiest way is to test it yourself or get a friend to test it. Then you know it is working.
30  .WS Services / WebSite Development / Re: >head< to >head< on: November 23, 2007, 04:39:20 AM
Hi y all,

Hopefully somebody can answer this and the answer can remain here for the aid of many.

Google have given a code that needs to be added to my site between the two >head< section of the HTML ?

Please.  How can i edit this section as the only time i can find it is when i right click on the title and then click view source ?

Is it at all possible to insert the google code into the >head< section with site builder when using windows xp sp2.   Huh

ps. I have tried inserting it in meta tags, description, keyword and just about everywhere else with no joy.  You could say that i am loosing my head, but i have to find it first, he he   Cheesy

Yes - the workaround is add the following at the very END of the site builder form that takes the meta description

><Whatever the Google Meta Tag is

You must start it with >< and there must be NO > at the end
You can add as many header tags as you like in this way
